Bought after trying a few other cameras. The Nanit gives me peace of mind when baby is in her bassinet. Having her wear the band to monitor her breathing is amazing for the anxious FTM.
Great monitoring system – accurate data to gain sleep insights
The Nanit monitoring system is an excellent choice for parents, include the breathing wear and you have a sleeping system that gives you peace of mind.Pros:- great picture/audio- accurate motion, awake, and breathing monitoring; Nanit breathing wear vs owlette: Nanit doesnât have oxygen and heart rate but found owlette gave false heart rate alarms causing major sleep anxiety. Nanit is very accurate with breaths per minute (confirmed multiple nights!)- ability to check in your Nanit from anywhere from your phone- local breathing alerts if internet is down- travel accessories so it can be taken with you- longevity: used this monitor with our first and second (4 year age gap) with absolutely no issues; Nanit vs owlette; owlette had charging issues after a year and was unusable by 13 months, expensive device vs the breathing wear for Nanit.- insights into sleep- realtime and playback/reviews available; second baby was noisy sleeper and Nanit helped us realize we could be waking baby up during active sleep when we reviewed videos from previous nights.Cons:- you must use your phone/ipad, lots of charging of devices. Wish there was a monitor for at home specifically for the monitor.- insights are not available on the multi use stand; we used the multi use stand for bassinet in our room- could do breathing monitoring but did not get insights. You can buy a stand to get around this but itâs expensive and not an option for everybody.
Plauged with connection issues and overall not safe
Despite having high speed internet and stable, consistent internet speeds of 200mbps+, the nanit continues to lose connection throughout the night. This is dangerous. We had to purchase a secondary baby monitor because the nanit is not reliable. The app does not give you any sound indication or alert that it has lost connection with the camera. We would go to sleep with the camera working and wake up to cries from our child which were not picked up by the baby monitor.For the premium price, you would expect the product to work every time. Nanit’s customer service is poor. We are within the one year product warranty and have not received any useful or effective solutions from Nanit. I would not reccommend this product to anyone. Traditional radio frequency baby monitors are much better. The nanit is certainly not worth the price, expecially when compounded with the cost of the optional accessories.To make matters worse, once your child is 1 year old the breathing detection in the app becomes a paid service with a subscription. Their webiste is correct when they say they’re not like other baby monitors. They’re out to rob you at the saccrifice of your child’s safety.
I originally purchased the Owlet- and ended up returning it within 2 days. I ordered the Nanit the first night with the Owlet and was immediately impressed!The camera was easy to set up, easy to install, the cord hider actually sticks to the wall, and the camera is phenomenal.Unlike the Owlet that has a sensory directly on your baby’s foot, the Nanit has a simple breathing pattern that can go on via band or sleepsack (or even PJs! How cool). We transferred our baby into her room on Night 1 with the Nanit using a sleepsack. She stayed warm all night long, the camera notified us properly for crying/sound/movement, the breathing monitoring never glitched or stopped throughout the night, and no false alarms!I LOVE how the app has background listening where you can close the app and still monitor your baby. I lock my phone at night, but can still hear the monitor! I have woken up to my baby every time she has made a noise thanks to this feature.The sleep analytics are AWESOME. I love seeing the sleep onset, how long my baby slept, when she received help, when she was removed from the crib, etc. The owlet would record my baby as sleeping despite her sitting in her crib playing- which was not helpful.I have only good things to say about this camera and it gives me way more peace of mind than the owlet did. My baby loves sleeping in her crib- and I can sleep peacefully knowing she’s monitored. 10/10! I will absolutely be buying another one for my next baby.
I didnât realize how many basic features are paywalled behind the insights subscription. E.g. telling you how long your kid slept. Without the subscription it becomes a very basic yet expensive baby monitor.
First of all, Iâve never owned a baby monitor, & I was stuck between this one & the baby sense⦠my husband chose this one because he loved that you get notifications to your phone. Upon setting up, which was very simple & straight forward, Iâm so glad I trusted my husbands judgement! The quality is amazing! Iâm able to speak to my baby through the camera & it has multiple sounds that can be played for your baby. The app itself is very easy to navigate & your can share access to whomever you choose too & itâll greet you as âmomâ or âdadâ. I know itâs a bit pricey, thankfully I got it on Black Friday sale, but itâs definitely worth it! I 100% recommend. There is no lag to moment. I turned on the light to the hallway & the camera detected it. It also came with a belly band to monitor my babyâs breathing patterns. Iâm definitely impressed & like I said, I wish I wouldâve purchased sooner!
Does not notify you on sound detection even though everything needed is enabled on the app. Contacted the nanit support team but they have not been able to fix the issue. Waste of money.
