I purchased this for myself, someone with sensitized skin and often (currently) has open wounds on portions of her body. I need gentle, unscented, gentle, boring, made-for-babies (did I mention ‘gentle’) products, and I limit plastics everywhere possible, especially laundry/bath. This is a smaller sponge, but it fits well in my hand and allows me more precision to avoid those aggravated areas of my body (even soft, fluffy makeup cloths don’t feel good on these areas, so this sponge would kill me). It’s absolutely gentle enough for normal skin, and if you have extra sensitive skin, it could be a good option.I was able to purchase this sea sponge through Vine for a discount, but I would come back to the brand – Naroa – when it needs replacing. For those unfamiliar with sea sponges, the box has care instructions to help you keep it clean and maximize its lifespan. $14 may seem steep for a bath sponge, but please consider that it’s sustainable and won’t wind up adding to the world’s waste problem.

The sponge has a bit of dirt in it, which is normal, and just needs a good rinsing.Installation/setup: Rinse the sponge well in fresh water before using. Use as a bath sponge with baby soap and shampoo. Rinse well and allow to dry.Final thoughts: I got this to use as an art sponge. The sponge is a natural shape and will make wonderful irregular patterns when used to print. This is the biggest sponge that I have ever gotten. When you add water, it even gets bigger. I love washing with real sponges. After it gets wet, it will get very soft. I’ve always wanted a natural sponge for the aesthetic and I’m SO glad I found this one! It looks just like the product photos. I love that it retains its natural coloring and it’s so interesting to look at. When it’s dry it’s a little rough and crispy, like any sponge, but wet, it softens up nicely. And the shape allows for some easy usability and range. Highly recommend!
