How To Start the Self Feeding Journey

Step 1 introduceStep 1 introduce

Introduce as a Teether

Introduce stage one pre-spoon (with raised textures) first so child can get acclimated to holding the utensil as they soothe their sore gums. They will love chewing on both sides because of the soft silicone!

LoadLoad

Help them Succeed

Once your toddler shows signs of wanting to self-feed, pre-load the stage one GOOtensil with food and place it on their plate or in their hand. When ready for a larger amount of food, upgrade to stage two.

3 Eat3 Eat

Watch the Magic Happen

GOOtensils make learning to self-feed fun and frustration-free. There is no wrong way to hold it, so all they have to do is dip and eat! Designed with a thicker, contoured handle to comfortably fit a child’s hand.

When to useWhen to use

As Early as 6 Months

After the child is able to sit unassisted and hold their head up, utensils may be introduced. It is best to begin once they’ve expressed an interest in self-feeding. This can happen as early as 6 months, but most kids are truly ready to tackle utensils somewhere between 10 to 14 months.

WhyWhy

Positive Reinforcement

A positive, rewarding experience encourages exploration and results in more positive feeding behaviors while a difficult, frustrating experience discourages the child and can lead to a variety of feeding challenges, including picky eating.

WhatWhat

Purees, Soft Foods, or Pre-Loaded Solids!

GOOtensils can be used with a range of foods from purees to soft foods, such as potatoes, yogurt, home blends, and oatmeal. The stage two can even be loaded with solids for the child to grab and eat.

UntilUntil

Wrist Rotation Development

Wrist rotation is a major motor skill that unlocks scooping and balancing, allowing a child to properly use a spoon. This usually occurs around their second birthday. Some signs that your child is ready to graduate to the spoon include scooping around the corners of a bowl and successfully maneuvering the spoon to the mouth with more food.

  1. Best baby spoon for starting baby on food
Those are amazing! The baby loves them. We got these along with some regular baby soft tip spoons, and these are so much better, we are not sure what to do with the other spoons, since we are using these exclusively now.Super easy to feed pureed food to baby, nothing drips or runs down like on the spoon, cleaner experience than a regular spoon (you are still feeding a baby, so it is not completely mess free), and way more convenient for the tiny mouth. I normally feed with the blue one for runnier purees, and give the other one to the baby to play with and chew on (she’s still too young to feed on her own, but when she’s old enough, this is going to be still perfect for the job).I’m also using the blue spoon to feed banana to the baby – simply “shave” the banana with the spoon to get it to puree. So, to sum it up:+ small size, light weight – perfect for tiny hands and mouth+ good grip on coloured parts – it’s a softer rubbery plastic – also good and soft in the baby’s mouth+ runny puree holds well and doesn’t run away – just dip and put in baby’s mouth – super easy, as there’s no top or bottom part, it’s double-sided+ easy to clean too

  2. My son loves it!
We have so far only used the stage one spoon and my son loves it! He likes to take it on his own and eat all by himself and chews on it which helps with his teething (he is 6 months and a half and his 2 lower teeth have started to show)! I really do love that it doesn’t matter which way he holds the spoon since it’s flat. It’s helping him with coordination, aka putting the spoon in his mouth! And I don’t have to be taking it away all the time to correct the way he holds it. It gives him more freedom! Great starter spoon! We have quite a few other baby spoons but this one is his and my favorite!! Love.

  3. Good for teethers
Just started using this product and my little one loves it. He’s currently teething right now and he looks for different things to soothe him and this spoon is perfect. Fits in his hand very well. Would recommend.

  4. Great for babies wanting feeding independence
I bought this because my 8 month old wanted to grab the spoon I was feeding her with. Initially I thought I could use this to give to her so she has a spoon to hold and that worked for the first month but eventually I started putting food on it and it works great. The spoon and “fork” also helps her with her teething so that was an added bonus. I put steamed pear and apple in it as well as various cooked squash. She likes sucking on the fork with the food in it and it keeps her occupied!

  5. Amazing and highly recommend!
These worked amazing for our son! He loves them and they are very effective for him feeding himself. Easy to clean but don’t sterilize in the microwave sterilizers! Plastic melted and had to order new ones.

  6. Great for starting solids
Love the quality and quantity. Great for independent feeding. I would preload the spoon. I would buy again

  7. Great starter spoon
They are perfectly sized for little hands and mouths trying to eat solids for the first time.Easy to clean! They are made of a softer material, which means that if your baby drops it on the ground, your dog may want to have a bite too and they definitely won’t withstand a dog bite! 🤣

  8. Son wasn’t interested
Nicely made, but my son wasn’t interested that much in this type of utensils, he preferred the regular type over these.

  9. My 6 month old nephew enjoys using these spoons, as he begins eating solid foods and to feed himself. The construction is solid. The length of the spoons, while shorter than the picture makes them look, is perfect for his little hand. The handle is wide enough, and made of a nonslip plastic, for his fingers to grab and hang on to securely.

  10. These baby spoons are great for baby led weaning. They are very sturdy and easy for your little one to grab.

  11. We just started introducing solids and these were a hit compared to other types of starter spoons. They’re great teethers for babies – easy to hold and lightweight. They are textured with grip on both sides so its great for stimulation and for teething (helpful if you want your little one to try to be more independent with eating.)Our baby doesnt always like the food she tries, but she loves using the spoon as a teether so she’ll always taste it.They’re well made and look durable, plus they don’t slide into most starter bowls.

  12. Perfect for smaller babies to start practicingmy is 5 months old and it suits his hands

  13. Die NumNum Löffel sind super für unsere Kleine! Sie liegen gut in der Hand, sind weich und das Essen bleibt gut haften. Klare Empfehlung!
