How To Start the Self Feeding Journey

Introduce as a Teether
Introduce stage one pre-spoon (with raised textures) first so child can get acclimated to holding the utensil as they soothe their sore gums. They will love chewing on both sides because of the soft silicone!

Help them Succeed
Once your toddler shows signs of wanting to self-feed, pre-load the stage one GOOtensil with food and place it on their plate or in their hand. When ready for a larger amount of food, upgrade to stage two.

Watch the Magic Happen
GOOtensils make learning to self-feed fun and frustration-free. There is no wrong way to hold it, so all they have to do is dip and eat! Designed with a thicker, contoured handle to comfortably fit a child’s hand.

As Early as 6 Months
After the child is able to sit unassisted and hold their head up, utensils may be introduced. It is best to begin once they’ve expressed an interest in self-feeding. This can happen as early as 6 months, but most kids are truly ready to tackle utensils somewhere between 10 to 14 months.

Positive Reinforcement
A positive, rewarding experience encourages exploration and results in more positive feeding behaviors while a difficult, frustrating experience discourages the child and can lead to a variety of feeding challenges, including picky eating.

Purees, Soft Foods, or Pre-Loaded Solids!
GOOtensils can be used with a range of foods from purees to soft foods, such as potatoes, yogurt, home blends, and oatmeal. The stage two can even be loaded with solids for the child to grab and eat.

Wrist Rotation Development
Wrist rotation is a major motor skill that unlocks scooping and balancing, allowing a child to properly use a spoon. This usually occurs around their second birthday. Some signs that your child is ready to graduate to the spoon include scooping around the corners of a bowl and successfully maneuvering the spoon to the mouth with more food.

Mi bebe de 5 meses esta empezando a comer y le ha ayudado en cantidad. Empezó sin saber que hacer y mordiendo la cuchara y ahora se come todo super bien. Excelente material y fácil de limpiar.
I liked the fit of this bib, but the first use it left patchy food stains even when I washed right after my baby used it. Not convenient and thought they would last longer and be easier to clean for the price.
Bought for my grandson. Ease to clean, bought the matching dish and sippy cup. He doesnât fuss with it but does like putting food in the pocket lol
I find the pre-spoon with channel technology to be really cool. I had this vision of my little one feeding himself using this spoon while I fed him using a regular one. However, it seems that my little one isn’t too interested in it (perhaps because it doesn’t look like a traditional spoon?)Some drawbacks I’ve noticed are that it’s not very convenient to handle since I have to continuously refill the pre-spoon with food, and the food needs to have the right texture for it to work effectively.Nevertheless, I still want to give this innovative design a high rating.
I had originally read about these numnum pre-spoons on a baby-led weaning blog. My sister then gifted me a set for my new baby. I loved them so much that I went out and got this spoon/bib set so that we could have a set at the grandparentâs house! The pre-spoons are such a good concept. Basically, however baby turns the spoon, their food stays attached to the little grooves. As a mom trying to allow her son to feed himself, but also hoping to minimize mess and wasted food, these have been essential. My ten month old has been using them since he started solid foods at 6 months. I am still preloading the spoon and handing it to him, but he is starting to get the concept of scooping. They have been especially helpful for messy foods like yogurt and oatmeal. Donât get me wrong, he still gets messy, but we waste a lot less food than when he uses a standard spoon and grabs it upside down! The pocket bibs are great. They are made of a a nice soft silicone that is comfortable on my babyâs neck and easy wipe clean. Before having kids, I thought the pocket bibs were a bit silly. Now I know they are amazing. So much less food on the floor! And my son loves to dig in there for dropped food once he has finished the food on his plate!ð
