I liked the sharp, 90 degree corners on this set. The sharper corners mean there’s no empty space in the joins if you put them in a 2×2 layout, which is probably one of the better layouts for this set due to the little characters inside the mats. It did take some practice for our toddlers and us to figure out how to get the little floating pieces to move. You have to kind of trap them in between to feet and slosh the water around. They do indeed move though. 2 of the tiles moved better than the others because they seem to have slightly more liquid in them.
These were instantly a big hit when I opened the box in my special needs class. Each square has a very nice rubber bottom to it so whether on the table or floor they stick and don’t slide around easily which is good. From shipping most everything was to one side or corner in them. We have been able to get the animals and confetti moved out towards the center where they have more movement. I don’t have a lot of designated floor space, so I have mostly been using them individually at student desks. In that capacity 4 students can play with them at a time for a sensory break vs just one.
My 1 and 4 year old love walking on these to get the fish to swim around. The bottoms are a padded felt so they work better on the rug than the wood floors especially when they are rough housing. Lots of fun for younger kids.
