The device seems well designed and built, but the app is very basic with very minimal options or configuration. I’m trying to use it but it seems fairly inaccurate. It certainly does go off correctly sometimes, but a diaper could get soaking wet without it going off or it’ll go off without the diaper being wet, so maybe it’s just by chance it goes off when it’s supposed to. I wish the app was better or have more configuration options. It uses “Velcro” to attach to a cloth-like diaper, but most diapers still have a plastic barrier inside. It almost never worked when attaching to a diaper, however I started poking a small hole for the sensor to poke through and that has helped its accuracy, but not by much. It seems to work on detecting humidity and temperature, but checking it, it doesn’t seem to have consistent thresholds when it goes off. Maybe it’s supposed to be adaptive, but it doesn’t seem to be getting any more accurate. I’m not sure if the problem is with the hardware not detecting things correctly and/or if the app just is making bad “choices” when to alert. I wish it was more configurable as there’s only a spider for how wet a diaper should be before alerting, but it could spontaneously go from “dry” to “change” without a significant change in the temperature and humidity, or vice versa there could be a significant change and it won’t go off, so I have no idea what metrics they decide to use. I’ve emailed the company asking for details about the algorithm or thresholds or whatever they use and requested they either expose more of that information in the app or make it more adjusting by the user. The app hasn’t been updated for a year as of writing this, so they may not be supporting it anymore. It’s hard to recommend, it seems like it has everything to work properly, but it usually doesn’t. If they tweaked the app and provided better information, it would be easier to recommend.
I’m not one that often writes reviews, but given all of the one-star hate this product has had, I really felt that I should share my experiences with the sensor. We are using the adult version. In short, it works, but you may need to tinker with it a bit to figure out how/where to place it, how to set the sensitivity, and how far away from your phone you should expect it to work. Our experiences are below:Placement and Sensitivity:We use a combination of brands, absorbencies and inserts with our diapers, depending on day or night, at home or outside the home, travel or away. We’ve been able to get the sensor to work with every combination we have used, but for each one its important to figure out where to place the sensor(s) and how sensitive to set the app. When we first tried the sensor, we attached it in the lower front of the diaper and it alarmed immediately on the first wetting in most cases – too soon! This meant that much of the diaper was not used. Ultimately, after some experimenting, we ended up using two sensors, (the app handles this) one attached on the upper front, the other attached slightly up the back. When both sensors had alarmed, we knew the diaper was wet enough to need changing, but not yet uncomfortable. We needed to experiment to get the placement right with the different brands and combinations.Type of Diaper:Although the sensor is designed for the permeable “Cloth like” nonwoven covers, it can be used with cloth diapers as well (just insert it between the cloth and the diaper cover, adjusting the position as needed) or with “plastic backed” diapers (use an insert, place the sensor between the insert and the diaper, and adjust the position and reduce sensitivity as needed)Range:This is a bluetooth low energy device – that limits its range. Our experience is that its range is about the same as other BLE devices, about 15 meters (45 feet) indoors, a bit more outside, but as long as the caregiver with the phone is nearby, it works.Room for improvement:Battery life is less than expected, a month or so is about all we get with the batteries. it might be a cool improvement to redesign to use rechargeable Li-ion batteries instead of single use.The app could also be improved – provide the ability to “link” sensors if you are using more than one on one wearer, provide better access to wetting/humidity/time/temperature data (it seems to be cloud based so this should be easy) and provide the ability to customize the alert sounds per sensor/person. Another app improvement would be more customization on when the alert is triggered – better configuration in terms of humidity and temperature data.If you are a bit patient and willing to experiment a bit, you can probably make the sensor work for you!
I never write a review this time I just had to. The product that I received doesnât receive a signal unless your phone is less than 2 feet away. I tried everything I donât even know how the product works because it wouldnât send a signal to my phone. In other words, it wouldnât connect unless youâre literally right on it
The sensor worked at times and at others gave false readings. Even set to alarm at a lower moisture setting it still gave false alarms. The false alarms have increased to the point I stop using.It only reads temp and moisture. It would be better to sense urine in a more direct way.
Works well if you have a breathable diaper like prevail. Only problem it the velcro strips that hold it to the diaper stop sticking after a while. They should sell replacement velcro
