Poop! There it is!: A Silly Potty Training Book for Children Ages Baby-3

I am 15 years past potty training, but the drawings are sweet, the wording is catchy, and those were a few things which set the favorite books apart from the okay books for my kids. Favorite books were the ones they read until the covers came off and Grannie the Librarian helped rebind. They could still quote bits of these favorites as they became babysitters.Silly is good. When the kids get old enough to get the popular reference…they will just laugh that much harder. My girls claimed that I was a bore and there was no way they knew anything about opera. I let them watch the Elmer Fudd& Buggs Bunny Barber of Seville, Wagnerian ‘Brunhilda’ tribute…then played just a few moments out of those works. Much appreciation to those who use our culture that is above the heads of our kids to educate while entertaining our kids. It entertains the adults so much that we enjoy our child’s entertainment.

It was a funny book and my son would try to go number two but he didn’t succeed b/c of the book. This was his second favorite book of the potty books I had purchased. He is now potty trained and I can credit buying books and reading to him on the potty as a reason why.

I agree with K. Vary review. This book is not a good tool to encourage toddlers to feel good about the whole diapper to potty transition. I understand the author felt like he was taking a lighter side approach using humor but unless your a parent/caregiver tired of changing diapers, probably wont catch the pun intended. For a liitle one I think it brings confusion and seems to be a negative approach.For example quote from the book: My sister says “you stink, get out of here!” She can’t stand the smell that comes from my rear!The picture show a baby boy with a smile on his face crawling on floor with brown spot on his diaper and trailing across floor. Sister holding nose with angry face pointing to get out.My daughter has the book, I make up my own words on the first two pages. If you get the book and feel like this isnt your cup a tea just insert your own story. One thing I dont understand is mom does look angry even in the page where the family is happy for the baby finally pooping in the potty. On the first page you can tell she is upset at changing baby diaper, maybe because she the only one who changes baby…lol That’s why baby refers to her as number one wiper I guess.On second page it has dad on knees point at son almost in a no no manner, begging baby to use the potty. With this picture I painted for this page, than baby says….”when I go in my diaper, I feel a bit naughty!” I can see why.You have a page where baby “clenches fist and hollered no” because he doesnt want to give up diaper.The rest of the book is ok, but after baby so no, it shows him sitting in his own pee than he makes the choice to sit on the potty and poop there it is. Usually potty training is a process, sit and wait, if your lucky you get pee. This book isnt geared towards that.Hope this is helpful. Little ones starting pottying trainning my see it differently with the face expressions of anger and feeling naughty than humorous. If your child can understand the humor than your child must be past the common age of training.
