I was excited to buy this monitor for our nursery, however, it severely let me down.First of all, it’s unreliable. It disconnects randomly without indication. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve woken up from a dead sleep to a baby screaming from the nursery.After all of the resets I’ve tried, I’ve not yet been able to get my smart audio unit to connect and stay connected longer than a few seconds.The blue light in the camera is super bright. I wouldn’t be able to get good restful sleep with that shining in my face all night, why would my baby?All in all, I wish I read more ratings before buying this expensive cam. It’s not even close to worth it. I’ll be switching back to an older cam with a terrible pixelated screen on it–at least I’ll have some peace knowing it’ll do what it’s meant to do.

Have 3 in total, one in every kids room. Love being able to check on the baby when ever and where ever.
Camera only
Camera works great. Sound machine is terrible. My advice, just buy the camera only and buy a separate sound machine only. With the two weâve had no issues. But if your looking for a camera to record and are able to check in basically anywhere in the world. This camera is it
Wait for Safety 1st to fix the update
Camera is fine. Image quality is perfect you can even see the baby breathing.But an update broke the audio unit. Since the update goes automatically when you plug it in while power on il will suggest to wait before buying that Safety 1st fix the update.
Mediocre Camera But I Really Like The Speaker Base
This baby monitor isnât the best I have used – but it also isnât the worst. I wasnât sure what to expect based on some of the reviews but it actually worked out okay for us. The app is very easy to use and it has some great features like two way talk, customizable motion and sound alerts and 130 degree wide angle view. It also comes with a handy Smart Audio Unit for when you donât want to keep the app open on your phone.When I first tried to use the camera, the motion and noise settings were extremely sensitive which caused the notifications on my phone to constantly go off. I was able to turn down the sensitivity in the app and it was much better. For motion you can set a bar anywhere between âtiny motionsâ or âbig motionsâ and for the noise it is âsoft peepsâ or âloud criesâ. You can also set the frequency of the notifications to less or more frequently which translates to how many times per minute. Right now I have it set to âno more than once every 5 minutesâ as after I receive a notification I will usually watch until I can see that my baby has settled back to sleep.The daytime video quality is great but nighttime is just okay. It is described as âpremium HD videoâ but it is just basic black and white monitoring.It comes with a Smart Audio Unit that is extremely useful at night when you donât have your phone app open. It cant be plugged in but once itâs charged, it works for about 11-12 hours. It is both noise and motion activated so it doesnât continuously make noise the entire night. It will light up when it detects sound or movement but you can also turn this light off with a press of a button. The only slight inconvenience is that it doesnât come with a USB for charging- only a cable. This unit is my favourite thing about this product.The two way talk feature is very clear and it allows me to talk and soothe my little one through the camera. It has enabled me to get her back to sleep and saved me from going into her room which usually causes her to wake up too much.The issues that I have with this camera are based on the connectivity. There usually is about a 2-3 second delay on the video and I have had a couple of instances where I have lost a connection. It has been a lot better these past few weeks so perhaps they have updated the software or my internet connection has been better. I also donât like how much the app drains my phone battery but I have been using the Smart Audio Base Speaker much more now and I actually really like it.The last little issue is I had was that there is a very bright blue LED light on the top of the camera. For some babies, this can be a possible sleep disruptor, however, I was easily able to fix this issue by placing a small piece of electrical tape over top.Overall, this isnât the absolute best camera I have used but it also isnât the worst. I believe they have updated the software as I havenât experienced any issues with âhissingâ or feedback like some other reviewers. I really like the speaker base and will continue to use it in the future.
Not worth it.
Just set up the camera. Picture quality is good, however the camera does not detect sound very well. Even though my volume is on max, the sound is very faint.Update: I’ve only used the sound unit a handful of times and now it no longer charges.

We like the Safety 1st HD WiFi Baby Monitor with Audio Parent Unit for how it works to detect motion and sound. The picture quality is pretty good, even in low light, and we had no issues with sound quality as long as the audio unit was charged sufficiently.A few things we didn’t like.Setup was a bit time consuming and we had several fails before getting the unit up and running.Once up and running, we realized that the audio unit is linked separately from the camera unit.We didn’t like that there is no power switch for the camera – if it is plugged in, it is on, active and recording movement.We found the range of head adjustability on the camera limited.The camera can’t be hard-wired into your internet and there is no bluetooth – must be WiFi.The audio unit had a short charge – about 11 hours for us before requiring charging via USB. Only a short cable is provided.You can’t adjust the movement sensitivity of the camera so if you have notifications enabled on your phone, it is quite annoying.The audio and video weren’t in sync.Aside from the minor annoyances, we didn’t have any trouble with connectivity, as some other reviews have said, nor did we find the audio quality poor. Setup worked.
