Curious kids try to get into anything and Everything, but the Safety 1st OutSmart flex lock helps you keep them out with the first ever decoy button. Your child will think that the decoy button opens the lock, but pushing it has no effect. You’ll know that the flexible surface hides the actual secret to opening The lock. This cabinet lock prevents your little explorer from getting into side-by-side cabinets and can be used on cabinets with either knobs or handle pulls. It installs easily with no drilling required. The adjustable straps let you get a customized fit for cabinets with hardware up to 8 inches apart. For periods of non-use, this cabinet lock hangs conveniently out of the way, but stays close for when it’s needed again.
Prominent decoy button can be pushed by child, with no effect

Easy installation with no drilling required
Fits on both cabinet knobs and handle pulls and adjusts to fit cabinets with hardware from 3″ up to 8″ apart
Hangs conveniently out of the way for times when it’s not needed

Works great!!
These are very easy to install and so far, our 19 month old (who figures out all baby proofingâ¦) hasnât figured this out! Weâll see if he does later, but the mechanism to open it isnât apparent and I think itâs very intelligently built. The âoutsmartâ outlet shields didnât work at all, but these are great
More practical than anything else
When we child-proofed our first place, I scoffed at these kinds of locks. They’re inelegant. But here’s the thing: they work. If you have a door with appropriate handles, these are going to be way way easier to install, and they’re more likely to last. We have two cabinets now where the hidden latches broke, and we’ve switched to these instead with better results. As other reviewers have mentioned, you can cut the extra length of dangling strap pretty easily. Closing them is a bit annoying at first but you get used to the angle and stop thinking about it.I wish I’d just gone for these right off the bat.
Good lock
This is an excellent lock to use on the fridge or doors. My son has autism so our house is locked up like fort knox. He has not figured how to open it. I like the decoy button. It is very easy to install and definitely worth it for the price.
works well
works well
Doesnât work on BBQ doors
My little one has been getting into the storage area of my barbecue and I bought this to solve that problem. The handles are well within 8â of each other so figured this would be perfect! WRONG.The circumference of the handles also matters, which is obvious in retrospect, but something I didnât consider before ordering. Obviously thatâs my fault. However, the annoying thing is, they could easily make the straps really long and allow you to trim them to the appropriate length, just like zip ties. Had they done that, this would have been the perfect solution.
Outsmarted my Toddler!
These are great locks. I have 2 in our kitchen and my 2.5yo still can’t figure it out. They are also great quality, not flimsy at all. No complaints!
Best Safety 1st lock…and we tried them all
Since we expect to be using these for a while with a 2 yr old or we’ve nick named the “Destroyer”, we bought this lock, the Safety 1st Push ‘n Snap Cabinet Lock and the Safety 1st Grip ‘N Go Cabinet Lock. This one is the easiest to use, significantly easier than the painful Snap Cabinet Lock.It can also adjust to more door configurations than the Grip ‘N Go Cabinet Lock, which requires door knobs to be precisly within about 1.5″ of each other.I’m not convinced the decoy button is useful. I’m concerned that our son will keep pressing it and rub the lock onto the door, potentially damaging it over the long hall.Best door/cabinet lock we can find…so we’ve bought 8 of them.
Not worth the money
Wonât buy again
This was super easy to install on my medicine cabinet, and the dummy button is enough to keep my five year old from figuring out how it works.
Funcionó perfecto. Es un pidicil de abrir para mà esposa, pero fuera de eso es genial. Los niños no pueden abrirlo y en su caso los despista con el botón falso.
Great for cupboards with wide set knobs! I live in an old house with wide set knobs. This is totally adjustable and works well. Easier to operate than the clip closure type. I can undo it with one hand which is helpful when I’m holding my 2 month old. Love this latch! My 2 year old son can’t push it up and “Crack!” It pops open like others. This latch is the way to go!
Excelente diseño, resistente, funciona muy bien. Es práctico para el adulto, y para el niño es imposible de abrir.
Easy to open and close (though somewhat awkward to setup and install). Flexible design that works with different handle types. Terrific ‘fake out’ button that kept my toddler occupied before he decided that trying to get into the cabinet wasn’t that exciting after all. In other words, exactly what I needed. He barely even glances at the cabinet doors anymore. Though sometimes he does swing by to push the button a few times just for fun. That said, if you pull out on the lock, the doors will open slightly. I can see how a little might be able to wriggle their way to get their hands on something, but it would have to be small in order for them to successfully get it out from under the cabinet doors. And honestly, it would be a lot of work. My little moves on at a certain point, but if yours doesn’t, this might not be the best choice.
