This was a great project for our 9 year old and her dad to do on a lazy Sunday. Various options for how to build the robot and the solar panel is very responsive as soon as it’s in the sun.
Good set. Not for an autistic 7 year old.
Bought for a 7 year old autistic child. Gets distracted and loses focus too easily. Maybe a couple more years.

Very finicky parts to assemble, especially gear box.
It’s as advertised. Parts are clearly labelled and there’s a system for getting the parts into storage bags with labels for later use and re-use. Instructions are reasonably well done. Cost is reasonable, though it should have included an assembled gear box.The experience of the kit was very bad. There are several negative reviews here, I’d have to agree with them all. I feel the majority of young children will lose hope fast with this kit. I’m not young but I did. Perhaps your 8 year old can do this with your help [to be fair the company suggests children start with adult assistance].Part of my problem may have been a missing part or two. I’m not really sure since I just gave up trying to track through the parts, of which there are many. Overall I feel that any child who could put this together on their own would be better served by other productsSomething worth considering for the entire category of science toys that require any assembly: produce a short video that clearly demonstrates the product being put together. Indicate the time required and effects reasonably achievable. Like many other products this one seems to rely on building high expectations, promising too much. A video might cut through some of that hype.

The idea behind this is great, but the quality is not great. The gears don’t fit well together, which means it doesn’t always work. A lot of slack in the parts means it doesn’t really fit well together.

Probably a good entry for building like Lego and robot science project
Did with my 9 year old. It probably is too challenging without a teenager or adult to assist, but this is so fun and it is very inexpensive. A must buy for Lego fans who want to experiment with super basic electronics. Great quality. Instructions could be better.
This is an amazing product, and I highly recommend it for kids aged 7 to 10.
