Reviews

  1. Very happy with my purchase
Easy to put together my only slight issue I had was one of the anchor polls needed to be sawed down a bit to work for my banister. This feels very sturdy, considering it’s only strap down strapped without drilling. Very happy with my purchase.

  2. Easy install and great colour!

  3. Très belle couleur et facile d’installation.
La seule barrière sur le marché en bois qui est belle et qui nécessite aucun perçage. L’avenir nous dira si elle est est durable

  4. Easy assembly
Have a staircase with spindles and this was one of the few options for a gate that allows installation on spindles without drilling into them. Also includes an option for drilling into the wall so great versatility. Assembly was easy.

  5. Looks great, but a pain in the … to use
This gate looks great! It’s looks so much nicer than a plain white metal gate. The faux wood and soft greys are pleasing to the eye. The install was fairly easy though the instructions were not totally clear. We picked this modelBecause we have a banister on one side of the stairwell. The mechanisms with the straps have to be tightened every 3-4days. This gate is used frequently. It does not close very easy at all! Both my husband and so have to fight to get it closed. Opening is easier for some reason and can be done with one hand. But we are almost at our wits end with it. It shouldn’t be so difficult to close and latch in place. The two gates slide against each other but seem to be too tight or the grey supports are maybe not positioned properly?? If it wasn’t for the banister this would have been returned already.

  6. Gate is 33”, Mounting bar is 36+”
Bought this thinking it would fit perfectly because it is 33” tall and we have 33.5” allowance under a hand rail, between two banisters at the top of our stairs. The mounting bars, that you basically have to use in order for this to work are both over 36” long so it didn’t fit for us. This was a disappointment and we had to return it.The gate itself is a sturdy wood but the plastic parts feel a little cheap.

  7. Not secure and can pinch little hands
Thought I’d like this gate but realized that with needing to slide the whole gate (aka need to make it smaller to open then expand it to close) kids hands could easily get pinched between the bars. Plus once closed it’s extremely wobbly as the two sliding door parts can’t be firmly anchored together. And the plastic to wood of the handle was also extremely wobbly. Making me feel uncomfortable that I could push the gate a half inch back and forth when it was closed.

  8. Perfect for top of stairs
The instructions were easy to follow and this product is perfect for a top of the stairs baby gate option. There is no bar along the bottom of the gate, so I feel confident that no one is going to trip.

  9. I prefer the wood look; metal baby gates aren’t very physically appeasing in my opinion, so options were slim. I also knew that I wanted something hardware mounted to avoid stubbed toes on the bottom bar, widen usable pathway, and provide additional stability. This gate checks all of the boxes.I was concerned after reading lots of reviews that the gate was difficult to open, doesn’t lock appropriately, that it wasn’t sturdy, or that it was loud but I don’t find any of this to be true. I’m able to open it easily with one hand, and the handle that unlocks it is so simple my 5 year old can do it without help (but my 2 year old cannot, which serves its purpose). Also, as long as it’s installed appropriately and everything lines up, it’s really easy to close and lock. It’s sturdy enough to withstand my 2 year old shaking because he wants up or down the stairs, as well as regular use. The kids go up and down the stairs constantly and it works perfectly well. Lastly, I don’t find it to be loud at all. There is a “click” whenever it is locked appropriately but otherwise I feel that it functions without excessive noise. I also love that it can be easily removed, if necessary, to move furniture etc.Install was also really simple. I do consider myself to be pretty handy, but I was able to install it with no help and didn’t have any issues. I’m a perfectionist, so I do recommend using a level at each step to ensure that everything is nice and straight. This will not only make everything look nice, but also makes it more functional and will help avoid issues mentioned by other reviewers. In order to make sure everything lined up correctly, I installed the hinge side first, then the gate itself, then the lock side, checking throughout that everything was nice and level. I feel that doing it this way, as opposed to putting up the gate last, allowed me to really ensure that everything lined up well and to avoid making unnecessary holes in the wall.I’m very happy with this purchase, and would buy again.

  10. I love it! For everyone on here that states they had to put wood to fill in the gap when installing on a wall with a baseboard – I’m wondering if they just didn’t have the spacers at that time. Our gate came with wall spacers for when installing on wall with a baseboard and they work great! I will agree though that the screws it comes with aren’t long enough if you have a wall with a baseboard. Thankfully we happened to have longer ones on hand. My only “complaint” is that the wood portion of the gate is not the same color in the product pictures. The pictures make it look a lot more gray, when in reality it’s a light wood color with a faint gray wash. A thing I was surprised by is that this gate cant be pushed to latch closed. You have to manually slide the gate in and out from the latch. Not a big deal, but I’ve just never seen a gate like that before. Overall though, it’s SUPER sturdy. I ended up putting a third banister clip on just cuz my Bannister is metal and a bit slippery. And I love that it has a door stop for when installing at the top of stairs to prevent any accidents.

  11. I am copying someone else’s exact review, becuase it’s the exact experience I had:I bought this gate to use for a wall to bannister installation. When attaching to the wall there are three holes that need to be drilled into the wall. If you have baseboards on your wall, there are 2 spacers that are included. The problem is that my baseboards aren’t high enough for the bottom hole so there needs to be three spacers included so that you won’t have a screw bare on one of the holes. The other MAJOR problem with using the spacers is that due to the length of the screws provided when used with the spacers the screws aren’t long enough to expand the wall anchors therefore they won’t hold in the wall. It seems the only was the wall anchors would hold is if you were screwing it in flush to the wall. This seems like a major design flaw considering how common baseboards are. To make this gate work I had to use molly bolts to secure the side to the wall. The bannister install was very easy so if you have 2 bannisters it seems like it would be an easy install, but if you are attaching to a wall(s) do not bother.I will add: the gate itself is nice, both in build and aesthetically. Curious how the straps on the bannister mount hold up over time.

  12. Pros:- Good non-permanent installation for stairway and clever design.- Relatively easy to remove the gate when not in-use.- Quick installation- Sliding mechanism on this gate is perfect- Easily adjustable to width of stairs- One-way operation for stairsCons:- Needs more color options, neither option was dark- Gate support doesn’t help at bottom of stairs / not long enough- Doesn’t have a way to adjust the height of the mounting bars in any meaningful way- Does not appear to be intended for installation on slanted railing- Cannot adjust mounting latches once gate is installed- Gate hinge hardware doesn’t lock tight- No auto-close / slam close. One Major Flaw – Height of the gate is not really adjustable, the bars don’t tighten / slide down the mounting mechanism, if you are anticipating adjusting this, keep that in mind. Luckily my cats can still fit under the gap so it wasn’t that big of a problem.Installation took about 20 minutes, the instructions are not that great but anyone with Ikea level knowledge could do this. The gate hardware for mounting the actual gate tends to flop around, that’s my only real complaint otherwise it would be a lot easier to remove when not needed.

  13. This gate is not only S-T-U-R-D-Y but I installed it on a double banister downstairs and a single banister to wall upstairs. Downstairs I used the strap system (ZERO damage to banisters) and upstairs I did one side strap, one side drill into a stud in the wall. I have NO idea how any other gates exist. Tension rod gates are GARBAGE. This is the best gate on the market and I’ve tried about 3 different types before this one. Install was annoying at first because the first box was missing instructions and the videos online are for an older model or something, but it ultimately wasn’t that hard to figure out. Comedy ensued when I opened the second box and there were instructions. Probably should’ve checked that to begin with… LOL. Easily the best gate on the market.
