Keeps Food Piping Hot, But Lid and Spoon Need Work
I also purchased the Thermos Stainless King 16oz food jar in matte red to send hot lunches to school with my other child. Like the blue one, this Thermos is excellent at retaining heat and keeping food steaming for 6+ hours.The durable stainless steel body does not leak, which is great. However, the rim is uncomfortably slim. My child struggles to spoon out thicker foods like chili or stew through the narrow opening.The folding spoon included also feels flimsy and bends easily while eating. That’s not comfortable.While the Thermos does its main job of keeping food hot exceptionally well, the rim and spoon are poorly designed. The slim rim and bendy spoon make it tough for kids to conveniently eat from this jar.Overall, I can recommend this Thermos for keeping lunches hot for hours if you don’t mind the frustrations of the rim and spoon. It excels at insulation, but falls short on ergonomics. If those issues don’t bother you, it will get the lunch-keeping job done.

It’s a fantastic thermos. Around 6:30 am I put a piping hot macaroni and baked chicken pieces into the preheated thermos.My kid had his lunch at 12:30 pm and the food was so hot he couldn’t touch it. When I opened the thermos around 16:30 the food was still warm! Warm on the level I could feel some steam coming out. The pliable spoon is very convenient.So now I bought a second thermos for my other kid who starts school this year.And another fun fact about the thermos – the younger kids are fighting who is going to finish the leftovers right from the thermos that my oldest boy bring home!QUICK TIPS:1) I’m using wide neck cunning funnel Stainless Steel Canning Funnel to fill up the thermos. In the morning rush it’s a life saver tool.2) They say that it is top-rack dishwasher safe, yet I highly recommend hand-washing. The high temperature of drying may affect the insulation.Here are some crucial SAFETY points to always keep in mind (user’s guide quoting):=> Contents should not be left in the container for longer than 24 hours.If contents are left in the container longer than 24 hours, or you suspect spoilage, use caution when opening the container.Contents spoilage can cause pressure inside the container to build, possibly leading to the forceful ejection of the stopper or contents.In such circumstances, before attempting to open the container, ensure the opening is pointed away from the user or other persons to avoid injury.=> For maximum thermal efficiency, preheat or pre-chill the product just prior to use.Fill with hot/cold tap water, attach lid, let stand 5 to 10 minutes and empty water.After filling container with contents, re-cover with lid to increase thermal efficiency.=> Do not use to store or carry carbonated drinks or dry ice

Exactly What I Needed
I needed a container to keep my lunch hot since the microwave at college is out of commission and I was getting tired of eating cold food. I was skeptical at first that this thermos would keep the food hot/warm and it exceeded my expectations. My lunch stayed at an enjoyable temperature 5 hours later (packed around 6am and lunch is at 11am). The size is also deceiving because I thought it might have been a tad too small but it fits my portions perfectly (100g rice, 85g boneless chicken and 100g chopped broccoli)
Keep things hot
Very good product. The food is even slightly warm after my son came back from daycare! The teacher said it was steaming hot when he opened the thermos during lunch. The only down side is that there’s no division in the bottle so if I want to give me some more choices of lunch, they’ll be all mixed together when he opens the bottle.
Keeps food hot
Bought this for my husband, so that he can have a hot lunch when he is working. He says it works well – puts hot food in it at 630 am and still hot at lunch. As a test, when first received, I put boiling water in it and 9 hrs later, the water was still warm to the touch. The collapsible spoon that comes with the thermos, works well. Would definitely recommend.

This is a great thermos that works as advertised. I followed the advice of others and have been letting boiling water sit in the thermos before dumping that out and adding my hot food. I noticed this does actually help keep the food even warmer when I go to eat it for lunch which is about 5 hours later. My only complaint is the amount of parts that need to be cleaned – I don’t have a dishwasher so it’s a bit of a hassle to take off the gasket and other rubber piece and wash everything one by one. I’ve noticed other thermoses in stores since buying this that appear very easy to clean and have a wider mouth, but I don’t regret buying the actual Thermos brand because it works so well.
