This is the only wooden peg board I could find. All the others have a foam base, which I didn’t want as it is not as sturdy or durable. This one also comes with activities for making different patterns and sorting shapes and colours. My 20 month old and 3 year old both love it and use it differently. You can stack the pegs quite high before they eventually topple over. Glad I found this one!
I love the versatility of this toy! Our 2.5 year old can easily stack the pegs and enjoys the challenge of matching color and shape to the various cards that can be placed on the wood board. She also gets a kick out of stringing the pegs and that it lures the cats in for playtime with her as well 🙂
My 3 year old twins have been having a fair amount of fun with this board. One twin, “the builder,” especially likes building things with it; his twin brother mostly likes destroying things his brother builds. I’ll add, my “destructor” twin is the one that attends therapy for issues with fine motor skills, so we try to get him to focus on being constructive vs destructive, and this is an excellent toy to practice that with!The only thing I don’t like about it is the game cards; they’re pretty much just paper, which is easily destroyed by 3 year olds. Also, the only way to hold the cards on the board is to go ahead and place pieces in there, to hold it on, which my kids immediately want to move. We tried using electrical tape (scotch tape definitely tears the game card up), and that seems to work ok, as long as your kids aren’t too destructive. However, we eventually just gave up on trying to use the game cards, and have fun without them!

This peg toy is made of good quality wooden peg board and thick plastic pegs. The pegs come in 5 colors and each color has multiple shapes (circle, triangle, heart etc..). All pieces are very durable and can stand a toddler playing with them. They are also not rough or sharp enabling my younger toddler to play with it.The peg board and pegs are cut accurately so that the pegs fit in pretty well.This also comes with a string, some plank shaped pieces and 5 pages of color matching.The string is more for fine motor development of stringing the pegs together.The planks allow kids to build connecting structures using the pegs.The sheets have simple colors, shapes and animals with various colored pegs that kids can match and stay engaged. It works on color coordination, shape cognition, building as well as matching skills.My kid is 15m old and still enjoys playing with the stacking and sorting aspect. I can totally see this toy growing with her as she learns the above concepts eventually.This would also make a wonderful gift!I highly recommend this toy!
This is a more detailed pegboard set than other sets Iâve seen. The 30 pegs are plastic, colorful, and the perfect for little hands. They each have a shape on them and a hole through them. Included in the set is a rope, a wooden peg board, 8 playing cards and instructions. There are so many ways you can play with these pegs. The instruction booklet gives examples of arranging the pegs by color and shape. They can also be sorted and categorized. Using the cards on the wooden peg board, the children learn to follow directions by matching shapes and colors like the design shown. This is an excellent set for home or a classroom. It could be played with a friend or independently.
