Instruction for use
1：Apply tourniquet proximal to the bleeding site and place the wounded limb through the band loop. Pass the tip through the inside slit of the buckle. Pull the band tight.
2：Pass the tip through the outside silt of the buckle. The friction buckle will lock the band in place.
3：Pull the band very tight and fasten it back on itself.
4：Twist the rod until bright red bleeding has stopped and the distal pulse is eliminated.
5：Place the rod inside the clip and lock it in place.
6：Check for bleeding condition and distal pulse. Apply additional tightening next to the tourniquet and reassess if massive bleeding continues.
7：Adhere band over the rod inside the clip around the limb.
8：Secure the rod and band with the strap. Prepare the patient for transport reassess. Record the time of application on white strap if possible.

I decided to put some thought into this review, as it seems like a potentially life-saving purchase. Apologies if it is overly long.I saw a YouTube presenter recommending woodworkers keep a tourniquet in their shop in the event the worst happens as consciousness can be lost quickly if a major vein or artery is severed accidentally by a power saw or other sharp tool.I have been a trained first-aider with basic lifesaving endorsements and recall that the trainers recommend pressure instead of a tourniquet; however, if you are alone in your shop and you have a bad bleed, you need to get to summon or get to help, and are unlikely to apply pressure very effectively in this situation, particularly as you might well be going into shock (see warning bit at the bottom if you want to understand my reason for saying this). It seems to me that quickly applying the tourniquet on yourself will give you time to get help and not pass out from blood loss/pressure drop (provided of course that you haven’t already succumbed – egad sorry, that’s a dark thought!). Assuming that help arrives in under an hour and can apply pressure then instead it seems like no permanent damage will be done to the limb (according to truerescue.com).I am not qualified to say if this is a good idea or not (I repeat – this is all just my opinion and experience – I am not qualified to recommend this), but I work alone in my shop most of the time, and have mounted this tourniquet unwrapped and set up ready to slide on where I can quickly grab it should it be necessary.Note: WARNING – SCARY BIT – I have never had a cut requiring a tourniquet, but did have to apply pressure to an arterial bleed on a work colleague while we walked to safety and to get assistance, and I can say that it wasn’t very effective (I will leave the graphic imagery to the reader) – the victim was pretty much unconscious after just a couple of minutes (fortunately we had a qualified nurse available to properly manage the bleed – they advised that otherwise the victim likely would have expired). I would have like to have a proper tourniquet in that case.

These are well made, I hope I don’t ever need to know if they work well, but if I do I’m confident they can save a life.
Beware
This tourniquet looks great, but beware that you need to practice with it and store it “staged”, as in, it doesn’t come ready to rock when time is a factor. Take it out of the package, and set it up for quick deployment. Youtube has a ton of videos on how to properly stage a tourniquet. When seconds matter you want this thing ready to go! Cheers
