Definitely an interesting concept
These are basically 2 parts; a foam block with car cover/Velcro straps, and a plastic base with the pull back motor and wheels. It’s actually surprisingly effective, as the foam is firm enough to grip and push/pull back, while being soft enough for most kids. The wheels are coated in silicone and have quite a bit of grip; however, it’s also a bit of a downfall as there’s *too* much grip for medium pile carpet and it isn’t going anywhere on it. Detaching the foam block from the plastic base is simple, with a little pull tab on the bottom. This pull tab is a rather thin plastic with only a single line of stitching to attach the Velcro, but unless you’re constantly attaching/detaching the pieces it should be ok for the duration your kid would be playing with it. There is one thing to note with this kind of thing however, and that is that when the plastic base is pressed down hard sometimes the motor kind of pops out of place; you can usually pop it back in place, but be aware it’s a potential problem, and a common one when small children are involved. The only reason it gets 4 stars is that it’s actually quite expensive for what you get; this kind of group of cars even with metal shells go for 1/2 to 2/3 the price, so I feel the value proposition is a little out of line for what you get. If the quality of the velcro, fabric, or plastic bases was higher it might be worth it, but I see little difference between this and your run-of-the-mill pull-back cars.
Beautiful set
I love these pull-back cars for the boys. They get so much joy pulling them backwards then watching them fly forwards. This little set is adorable. I think this is a great way to keep the kids busy. Awesome birthday gift!
