A Wheely Lovely Learning Wagon
Ordered this for when my grandson comes over for a visit because I know how much kids love items with wheels. A wagon in itself is great to be able to roll around and carry all kinds of items and this one has the added bonus of lots of other interactive items on it.There is some basic assembly required to get this wagon up and running. In the box is a Quick Start Guide, if you would like a more detailed guide there is a QR code you can scan to get the full manual. Only the panel that is displayed on the front of the box with all the electronic activities has the stickers applied. For the rest you also need to place the sticker to the sides of the wagons. There is a diagram that shows you where to place each stick. The toy itself is well made, full of lots of great options for kids to learn from. There are spinners and sorters. I especially love how this is a sorter that you donât have to open up for your child to get the shapes back out of. The electronic side can be turned off when you donât want noise or put on low or high volume. On this side there are lots of things your child can push, roll, slide, wiggle that each make a different sound. I like how they donât have just one specific sound each, but they rotate through a couple things so it doesnât get too extremely repetitive right away. E.g. the 5 rectangles on the top are each a different colour, have a shape on them and a number on them. It will go through the colours, shapes, numbers and song before it returns to colours again. The light in the middle flashes and lights up interactively according to the music or what is being said (flashes 3 times for the number 3).When not being used the handle easily stores over the wagon to create less of a tripping hazard and take up less space.A âsimpleâ wagon has become a treasure of knowledge and fine motor skills. So much learning a child does without even realizing it.
Great Interactive Learning Toy for Toddlers with Lots of Activities
This VTech Sort & Discover Activity Wagon is a really fun learning toy for toddlers. It has lots of different activities for your child to interact with like the Activity Keys that teach numbers, shapes and colors, a Peak-a-Boo window that tells you about the animal hiding behind it, a friendly Lion Head that twists and plays songs that encourage your little ones to participate in activities and much more. You also get 4 different shaped blocks that help teach shape recognition and sorting skills. The blocks can be inserted into corresponding shaped holes on either end of the wagon. The wagon has a motion sensor and will play music and songs as your child pulls it along and can be used to carry their favorite toys. The large wheels roll smoothly on both hard floors and carpets. The wagon arrives flack packed and will need to be assembled before use. It’s very easy to put together and took me about 5-6 minutes to get it ready to use. You will need a small Phillips head screwdriver to secure some of the panels together using the 9 screws provided. It comes with 2 AA batteries already installed, but these are for demo purposes only and will need to be replaced with good quality alkaline batteries because it’s going to get lots of use.VTech makes a lot of very reasonably priced and fun learning toys and this is another winner. It gets a highly recommended and 5 out of 5 stars.
A five-star product with a three-star review because of the installation manual.
I ordered this product for a toy box we are putting together for when our grandchildren visit our home. I would expect this discovery wagon could be used as soon as a child can sit up on their own, and a child is likely to grow out of the activity buttons but continue to use the toy as a wagon. While I like and have no problems with the product’s features as described in the product description, I want to focus on a crucial assembly problem that has given me cause to give this otherwise 5-star product, a 3-star review. For over 50 years, I have known that on any wagon, whether horse-drawn, a wagon pulled by a tractor, or a child’s wagon, the front is always where the drawbar or handle is, and the sides run parallel to the direction the wagon travels. That is not the case with this installation manual, and failing to understand that could result in frustration and a damaged toy.If you do not look carefully at the labelled pictures on page 2, you could easily and reasonably install the front and back as instructed on page 6, only to realise it is impossible to install the sides. I would expect the disassembly would be time-consuming, with the potential for damaging the retaining locks at a minimum.VTech defines a side panel as where the shape sorting holes are found, and these panels must be installed last. These are also the panels the handle will fit into. VTech does not define a front panel, but since the back panel is identified, it would be the electronic panel that VTech considers to be the front. What I do appreciate about this VTech wagon in terms of assembly is there are eight screw holes, and nine screws are provided. For maintenance, you can fit a regular-sized Philips screwdriver inside the wagon to access the batteries. The other thing I appreciate about the installation instructions is that they require replacing the batteries they provided. This would be an issue for on-the-shelf products where the buttons are being pressed, and the batteries are draining. I have never seen this battery brand before, and I have had batteries powering a device, but they were starting to leak and corrode the contacts. As for product confidence: VTech is a Hong Kong-based global supplier of (Video TECHnology) products and claims to be a “global leader in educational toys and cordless phones”. VTechKids is a subsidiary of VTech, and the Canadian head office is located in Richmond, BC. Product support is also provided from Canada. VTechKids products are sold at leading Canadian retailers, and their customer ratings for VTech products are typically 4.5+ with other online retailers. I have found that consumer complaints against VTech in the last six years have been limited to two specific products within their extensive product offerings.
