Original assembly, impressive to see the mechanism, very impressed!
This was a little confusing at the beginning with the assembly instruction being good, but it felt like a new kind of instructions. For example we forgot to use the wax stick to wax some parts in the beginning as we did not understand that icon and just thought it meant to assemble.My daughter being 9, she did need some help, which was expected as this is rated 12 years old +. But I was surprised how much she was able to do… basically just needing help with pressure fitting things which she didn’t have the strenght for.It’s rare that I find wooden toys with an actual mechanism to build and observe.I found the piece also very easy to detach and with little burn marks on the edges.This is definitely a cool toy which took us about an hour and a half to assemble (at the speed of a 9 years old)Definitely recommend!
Fun to assemble
This product is a laser cutter engraved signboard that allows to display ‘Open’ and ‘Closed’ by rotating the characters. While the original idea of such a signboard has been around on the internet for several years, what I particularly liked about this product is the intricate steampunk-style design incorporated into it.The precision of the parts is okay, and the completed signboard works smoothly. The instructions are well-written and assembly was not difficult, but there were some parts that were hard to fit together, probably because this 3D puzzle is designed to be assembled without glue. The assembly took about 1-2 hours for me.The designs created by the laser engraving are beautiful, so it’s enjoyable even without any paint. However, I’m considering adding some color for a more personalized touch.
For context, I really love building wooden puzzles like this and have a fair amount of experience at it. The ROKR brand is probably the top brand in the field. This one is not quite as good – pieces are a little harder to punch out and need a little more sanding. It’s a little harder to understand what the instructions expect of you at some points – I didn’t have issues, but if you were a novice or a kid, there might be a few points where you’re a bit unclear on what exactly to do.That said, this was a fun build – probably took me about 1.5 hours, and is a neat little “gadget” to have afterwards. Recommend for anyone who likes model building. If that’s not you, you might not have fun.
Just started the assembly. Directions could be a little clearer. Stopped at the point where it directs placement of two-sided tape to fix some of the letters in place. I will finish it, but not as quickly as I expected.
We liked the engraved drawings on this sign. The telescope, the hat, the rocket. They give a beautiful frame to the build. The mechanism to convert the sign is simple, but the placement of the letters and their design make the design very ingenious and well implemented.In comparison with the ROKR brand, the planks are not as well cut, so you must be ever more careful separating the pieces to being the build to avoid breakage. Also, the edges require more sanding to get rid of the joint points and have a smooth model.As described, to build this model, no glue is required, but some sanding and cutting is.This is definitely giftable to any interested person, kid or adult, that has the interest and patience to put together a wooden model.
Iâm an avid puzzler and was beginning to get a little bored with the standard, average puzzles, so I got this one. I had a surgery, which requires a 6-8 week recovery and have been using 3D puzzles to keep my mind occupied. This particular one didnât disappoint. The dollhouse has such intricate detail and you must take your time putting it together so that you donât accidentally break any of the smaller components. The price is phenomenal and I had a blast putting it together. Took me more than a couple days, which is what I needed for this recovery.
The open-close sign is easy to build, it is simple to play, and good to display. It is a good design, my son has so much fun building it and playing with it. It is easy to turn open and close, it is a good project.
