We purchased this light/sound machine when we transitioned our toddler to a bed that he could get out of on his own and we were worried heâd get up too early and this was absolutely the solution – he only gets up when it turns green at the time we set! There are different sound options, itâs easy to setup and use, you can adjust brightness for the overnight light, and volume is easily adjustable as well. Itâs not too big and blends in with his room. The cord is long enough to reach the outlet.
Unlike others we had no issues at all setting it up and the light comes on at the right time. It has been effective at keeping my almost 3 yo in bed until the green light comes on. She actually sleeps later (confirmed by monitor) because of it as she wakes up and looks at the colour and knows it’s not time to get up so goes back to sleep (rather than calling for us to get her up).
I never knew how much I appreciated the tap feature until I used my previous nightlight. Itâs so nice to be able to tap it and easily turn it on opposed to having to search for an âonâ button in the pitch black. I used to use a separate nightlight and sound machine but wants to condense into one machine. I found this one and it almost checks all the boxes. I love that you can adjust the brightness to 4 different levels. I also love that there are different buttons for the different types of sounds so you donât have to cycle through categories you donât want. For instance, I only like white noise so I donât even want to cycle through waves crashing or birds chirping. I love that it has a clock so I donât have to look at my bright phone to check the time in the middle of the night. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to work without being plugged in so I could move it closer when doing diaper changes.
Got one of these for my toddler’s room. White noise works great. And he likes tapping the light to turn it on before bed. I haven’t used any of the timer/alarm features as of yet, but for a night light and sound machine it’s great. No apps to fuss with, just plug it in and go.
UPDATE: I got a replacement and same problem persists. Buttons donât work specifically the power button and volume buttons. I have to unplug it and plug it back in for the buttons to work. I also really donât like that to turn off the light you have to tap it past the brightest setting and then it turns off. Disruptive for middle of the night feedings. Returning. Disappointed. The hunt for the perfect nightlight (that doesnât cost $200) continues.Iâm writing this review for all the mamas. I am a new mom. I first got the hatch mini sound machine for my nursery because we already had a night light, and I thought all I needed was the sound. All the middle of the night feedings are done in the nursery. What was I missing? A clock. So I would bring my phone. I realized a phew things using my phone. For starters, it has to be charged. So one additional thing to worry about. And sometimes I would drop it. I donât like being depended on my phone anyway so a clock was an automatic need. Next, the hatch mini does not have buttons. I hated that I had to hold my finger down the power âbuttonâ for 3 seconds to turn it off. That 3 seconds is annoying when you have a crying fussy baby. Especially when it doesnât turn off and you accidentally click it to the next over stimulating sound. Even the volume âbuttonsâ are touch. I realized needed something with actual buttons. That I can quickly click and move on. Next, her nightlight is mine from when I was little in the 90s. A switch on lightbulb with one light setting. I realized itâs a little too bright when we want the room to be dark. So, all of these things instigated me to start researching for a different sound machine that 1),most importantly, had a clock, 2) a dimable light and 3) ACTUAL BUTTONS. I read the clock was too bright in the Frida mom 3 in 1 sound machine so that is why I decided to get this yoga sleep sound machine. Plus, we use the yoga sleep travel sound machine in our room next to her bassinet so I was more inclined to get this because the white noise would sound the same (and it does, the hatch mini white noise did not sound the same as the yoga sleep). When I first set this up, I loved it. MINUS the fact that itâs a USB power cord and it doesnât come with the power box. I donât understand why companies need to make things so complicated like this. Now I need to remember to buy a power box (I keep forgetting to do that! Mom brain⦠anywayâ¦). Besides that, I loved the clock. Yay! I loved that there were different buttons for different sounds. And a button for the power and the sound. Yay! I loved that there was a dimmable light. Yay! The rest is just extra in my opinion. SO. Hereâs where I get disappointedâ¦.The first time I turned on the white noise sound, I couldnât adjust the volume. I was pressing the buttons but nothing was working. Eventually I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It started working. Weird, I thought. The next time I tried to turn on the sound, it wasnât turning on. Weird, I thought, because the clock is on, so itâs definitely plugged in. After a couple tries of trying to turn it on, I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Then, sound was turning on and the volume was working. Ok thatâs annoying, I thought⦠Night 3, I try to power on the sound, no luck. Unplug and plug back in. Later in the night I try to adjust the volume, same thing, the volume isnât working, so I unplug and plug back in. Night 4, this had happened again. All the moms know the tipping point of overtiredness can be triggered by something that should be so simple to do!!!! I have submitted a request for a replacement and I am PRAYING that this machine just has some faulty wiring because I really thought this was going to be it for me.The last thing id wish for, is for the night light to be turned on/off without having to tap through all of the dimmable options. When I want the room to be dark when I put her down, I dont want the nightlight to get super bright before it turns off! I think there is a setting for it to turn off after 30 minutes thoâ¦â¦.. but I donât know yet if that will work⦠again, another thing Iâd have to remember to do especially when I just want to turn it on/off for a middle of the night feeding. Why does technology have to be so complex nowadays. Make electronics simple !!!
