Gate
We bought 2 of these and love them. Easy to install. Work very well. Love that they are retractable
easy to install
Pros: Good Quality. Easy to install. Love that you can set it up in more than one location.Cons: Not easy to use when carrying a child. You need two hands to open it.
Pretty good
My only complaint is that you have to hold down the know thing to retract the gate and to close it. Which means you always need both hands to use the gate. We have a different one that you can open with one hand but there is still a bar across that you have to step over. This proves challenging for our dogs for some reason so we opted for this version since it completely disappears when open. Overall I’d say we are pleased. I did have a little challenge with installation… didn’t realize the gate only opens one way because of the press button. Unfortunately you can’t just flip it around… the top and bottom wall attachments are different sizes. So I has to put 4 new holes in the wall. I don’t recall the instructions making that clear enough to prevent this mistake but maybe it was and I didn’t read it close enough. Overall it looks sharp and I’m pleased with it.
Easy to install
Works great
Mandatory 2-hand operation is super annoying.
We bought this to keep our small dog out of a hallway. The cons however, outweigh the pros for us.The pros: arrived as advertised and in good condition, not too hard to install, fits across our wide hallway , doesn’t look too bad.The cons: you absolutely have to use two hands to open or close it.I should have paid attention to the other reviews that mentioned that you cannot operate at one handed. You truly cannot and it is very, very annoying. If you are carrying anything or have anything in your hands, you have to put them down to open or close the gate. Other Gates that we have had in the past we have been able to figure out the way to use it with only one hand (we’re just using it for a small dog not child safety). This one we just can’t do that – you have to push down and turn the lock dial while pulling the gate simultaneously. It took our kids a long time to figure out how to do it and they hate it. I do too.
Easier to use with two hands
Only reason it’s not a 5 star for “easy to use” is because you basically need two hands to retract the gate. One hand to twist the knob on the right ride (seen in video) while the left hand is guiding the handle, otherwise it wont retract evenly or smoothly. You can close the gate by twisting the knob and pulling the handle but if you stop you need to start over again. BASICALLY, you need to hands which can be difficult if you’re running around doing errands or holding babies.
Terrible terrible terrible
This is very very poorly made. The install is somewhat easy, but there are 3 major flaws:1. The clasps where the gate grap onto are very hard at first (as in tight) so you have to put lots of pressure. If its mounted to sheetrock, itâs not good.2. In order to open, you need to press on the lever and pull very fast without ever stopping. As soon as you stop, it locks in place (lile a seatbelt) and you need to start over. Very hard with a baby in your arms.3. Our baby was able to open it after 2 weeks: she pulls at the bottom handle and since there are no « locks » it just retracts close super strongly, therefore it could actually injure the baby / pinch their fingers. Very very bad design and now i have to find a better one and patch the darn holes i made to install. Very disappointing.
Looks much nicer than most gates.
It wasn’t the easiest to install (having baseboards makes it challenging) but we got it done. We have two of these gates, and for the last 6+ months it’s kept our 18 month old out of the kitchen. It looks really nice compared to other baby gate options. The top is beginning to soften and sag slightly, but it is still holding strong enough. Our toddle grabs the top and pulls it down so it’s not surprising that it’s beginning to stretch. You cannot open/close this gate with one hand, but it is simple enough. A young child can’t do it which is good. Overall I’m impressed and would buy again.
