When it comes to Ear Thermometers, Braun is considered gold standard and regarded as benchmark for accuracy. My family doctor also recommends Braun. I have used Braun Thermometer for years and my old Braun is still working like charm for last 10 years. So when I needed to upgrade my thermometer, I decided to choose their top of the line Braun Thermoscan 7 Thermometer and I am quite pleased with this advanced thermometer. Thermometer is well designed and easy to use. All the buttons are easy to understand and most people would be able to figure out without even reading the manual.KEY FEATURES:PRE-WARMED TIP: One of the major thing that differentiates Braun from other cheaper brands is it comes with patented pre-warmed tip. The tip on other thermometers can cool the area where the reading is taken, which can lead to inaccurate readings. The tip on the ThermoScan is warmed before use, to ensure professional grade accuracy.EXACTEMP GUIDANCE SYSTEM: This feature ensures that thermometer is positioned in ear correctly and taking correct reading. This is confirmed by a beep and light.AGE PRECISION COLOUR CODED DISPLAY: This is one of my favourite feature on Thermoscan 7. This feature differentiates Thermoscan 7 from other Braun Thermometers such as Thermoscan 5. I didn’t know that definition of “fever” changes with age. On Thermoscan 7, you begin with choosing the one of the three correct age groups (0-3 Months, 3-36 Months and 36+ Months). Thermometer screen will glow Green, yellow or Red light which makes very easy to interpret the results. The coloured screen means that I don’t have to panic and search on Google what classifies as a fever. I’m able to just concentrate on looking after my kids.THE GOOD:(1) Professional Grade Accuracy(2) Large easy to read backlit display. Display with night light- perfect for reading at night time.(3) Quick and fast measurement(4) ExacTemp technology confirms that thermometer is properly positioned and taking accurate reading(5) Pre-warmed tip(6) Age precision technology completely takes the guesswork out of interpreting child’s temperature(7) 9 Memory allows to track results over the time.(8) Ejector button for easy lens-filter removal.(9) You change temperature scale from °F to °C.(10) Comes with storage cradleTHE BAD:(1) Braun Lens filter are on expensive side. Ongoing costs with lens filters is little high.OTHER OPTIONS:Fo Ear Thermometers, Braun is the brand I trust so if I have to compare Thermoscan 7 with something else it would be Thermoscan 5. Thermoscan has all the same technology to ensure accurate measurement, but it does not have Age precision Technology and Colour Coded Display. It also o does not have front panel display with light light.FINAL THOUGHTS:The overall design and feel of Thermoscan 7 is great. It’s easy to use, takes guess work out and makes it easy for novice users to take professional grade accurate readings every single time. It costs more but provides lots of peace of mind. Like my previous Braun I am confident it will last very long and only thing that will make me upgrade it again would be newer technology.

A Must-Have for Families!
This Braun thermometer is a game changer! As a mom of three, I can’t recommend it enough. The Age Precision feature is incredibly helpful – I love that it adjusts based on my kids’ ages.One of my favorite features is the color-coded display that changes from green to yellow to red depending on the temperature. It makes it so easy to see if there’s a fever at a glance, which is especially handy when I’m checking temperatures in the middle of the night.It’s super easy to use, seems really accurate, and makes me feel better about having it in our home. If you’re on the fence, just get it—you won’t regret it. I bought it while it was on sale, and the price was much better on Amazon than in our local stores!

This Braun thermometer is very straightforward to operate and is very easy to read and to interpret the results. You start by covering the tip with a new disposable lens filter (A small portion of filters are included in this kit to get you started) After turning it on with the power button, you first select the age group of the child you are testing by pressing a few times on the ”Age precision button ”until you obtain the desired age group (the button looks like a baby crawling on all fours).Once the age has been selected, you just need to press on the ”temperature taking button” which is at the top of the device (the button looks like a mercury thermometer). You then insert the tip into the ear, and keep it there until you hear a beep, which will indicate that the thermometer has obtained the measured temperature.The thermometer screen will not only show the measured temperature in degrees, but the screen’s background color will indicate if there is a fever or if the temperature is normal. The screen will either be green (which means that there is no fever), yellow (which means there is a light fever) or red (which means there is a high fever). It takes around 2:29 seconds to provide a reading.I have tested and compared the readings with my older trusty thermometer and both were consistently showing very similar results each time. I have used it on myself and on my toddler, who really doesn’t like having his temperature taken. I did manage to successfully get accurate results multiple times without him making too much of a fuss. Every time I use this thermometer, I really enjoy the fact that I don’t have to double check any numbers to find out if he has a fever or not. The color indicator confirms that for me. A home thermometer is a MUST have in any household. We have reached for this thermometer so many times to confirm and diagnosis our children’s fevers. Help to determine when to medicate and when to cool bath, it works very well.One little thing… I would change.. you have to choose the age range of the user EVERY time you go to use it, which is kind of a pain. I understand the thought behind it.. but.. at 3 am and the 20th time it was used that night, It’s annoying!There maybe a way to set the age category but I already disposed of the box and am obviously not bothered enough to google it.Enjoy
