I canât say Iâve ever written a review before but this monitor deserves it.Our previous monitor was thrown by our toddler, and ultimately had to be replaced. I purchased another highly rated monitor⦠that was beyond fuzzy and didnât have an accurate temperate reading. Really the only two features I use. I returned it.I read about this brand in a Reddit forum and thought I would give it a shot.Wow! SO glad I did. The picture is the most clear image I could have hoped for. The features are straightforward and easy to use. The quiet volume is actually quiet. The dim backlight is actually dim. It can run plugged in or on a battery reserve if we need to go somewhere for the afternoon.I honestly cannot say enough great things about this camera. If you are looking for: a camera that is quiet when you only have one volume bar on, sharp picture, basic but useful features, ease of transportation, WiFi or non-WiFi capabilities, and zoomed in or zoomed out camera options – THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU.I wish I would have bought this camera 19 months ago!
This is better than we expected! Great product and great quality, very well made
The video quality is definitely better than the last model, and I like that it has a screw attachment point on the bottom that fit on the stand we already had. My biggest disappointment is the range. Unless I got a defective unit, the range without Wi-Fi on is considerably less reliable than the last model. A big reason I bought this was to have the option of Wi-Fi on or off, but it feels like I’m being pressured into using Wi-Fi over the radio signal. I’m concerned that taking it on a trip without Wi-Fi access will mean zero connectivity. The alarm sound could also be improved. It currently just does a single bro, and it’s at the same volume as the main speaker. If you keep the main speaker looks, then you won’t hear the alarm tone. The previous model had a life sound that would continue until you turned it off. Other than that, I like the higher resolution, battery life is adequate, and updating via Wi-Fi instead of connecting to a computer is a big plus.
I’ve used Eufy’s previous wifi baby camera for a couple years and it works well, but I wanted 24/7 recording, and the split screen viewing (ability to view two cameras at the same time) would also be very useful, so I got a couple of these. Unfortunately the split screen viewing isn’t ready and may never be (they’ve taken it off the product page now), and after enabling 24/7 recordings in the video settings, when I try to play them back, it just hangs forever saying “Establishing secure video channel” no matter where in the timeline I scrub to. It does that on both out of the box firmware and with the latest (1.2.7.0). I also have the latest iPhone app. It looks like the 24/7 video is being recorded in the UI, and I can see the microSD card filling up in the settings, but it won’t play back in the app. There’s no feature on the included monitor to play back the 24×7 recording either, just the previously available events. So I’m not seeing much benefit over the old baby camera right now.Update: I forgot to mention I got two of these and the same thing happens on both. Also, the camera formats the card in a way that makes it unreadable on a Mac, so it’s not possible to view the recorded video outside the camera either. It’s been a couple weeks and this is still broken.
Eufy (along with its parent company, Anker) has developed quite a product catalog of solid tech products that have all the bells and whistles and feature solid build quality for a reasonable price – and has built a great fanbase along the way. This baby monitor setup is a great example of what they can do – and a solid option overall among video baby monitors.First, the basics. With a 2K resolution and infrared night vision, you get a clear picture to see your little one day or night. Audio pickup and quality is also good and the camera features a smooth pan / tilt feature if you want to keep an eye on a more mobile little one anywhere in their room. Build quality is solid and the whole setup just works, straight out of the box (you CAN link it to wifi if you want to use the features in the app / remotely monitor using your mobile device, but you don’t HAVE to use Wifi for this to work if you are worried about privacy). The monitor and camera are well-built and should prove durable to last as long as you’d need them for a child with reasonable usage and care.Eufy then adds on quite a few value added features. You get a built in battery in the camera (to go with the one in the monitor itself) so you can use the camera on the go if you want to (out of the house OR if you just need to move it to watch nap time in a different room / space). You also get smart monitoring that removes a lot of the background noise but alerts you to crying or room temperature changes (which seem to work quite well – I do like the temperature monitoring features so you can make sure baby’s room is in the right range). So if you could use a great video monitor to keep track of your little one, this Eufy monitor is a great option. Give it a try today!
