Instructions unclear, pieces not all fit – quality control needs work
Edit: After having these for a while, the manufacturing of the Lego style pieces are not as good as Lego itself. The arm broke for one of the petals and can no longer be used. The disassembly is also not as smooth as the Lego brand. The manufacturing of the set components is not a smooth plastic as Lego. It has sharper edges and the density of the plastic is lower. So my overall comment is that this is a substandard Lego style kit. Would not buy again.———–Our 5 year old was able to assemble each flower herself with some help from her 9 year old brother. We noted the pros and cons:Pros:1. Each flower is separately packaged with its own 1 page instruction. You can easily gift a flower set independently or have a group of kids just make their own set at a party.2. The pieces do snap on fine for 99% of the ones pre-packaged. They are similar to Lego and Lego Technic combined. The design is similar to the Lego Botanical sets being sold.3. A 5 year old can assemble this with some help from an adult or older child (i.e. our 9 year old son). She didn’t struggle too much putting it together.4. Price is less than the name brand for something that looks similar to the botanical sets on the market.5. Looks pretty nice when fully assembled as a bouquet. Individually, the flowers were quite nice as well.Cons:1. The Lego name brand parts have no manufacturing defects. This generic Lego style set does have defects. There were pieces where the hole was not formed properly from the mould and thus, could not be assembled as per instructions because it could not be snapped together. It was the one-off event, but did impact the assembly unlike the actual Lego brand.2. Instructions were unclear on some flower sets where the pictures were small and didn’t clearly explain how the assembly should be done. This could be mitigated by having a booklet instead of a single sheet and a close up to how the assembly is supposed to look like in key areas. Our son (9 years old) and daughter (5 years old) made errors in the initial assembly due to this, and had to amend it as the next step on the instructions didn’t work because of the previous step. In reviewing our kids comments, I do agree that some of the images don’t clearly state how the two pieces should be put together and revisions are required as you assemble the flowers.3. De-assembly (which we do after we complete these puzzles) is not as smooth as Lego. You can tell that the parts were tighter and harder to take apart versus sets made by the brand name. It is a great look alike kit and fun overall despite this. Just a bit harder to take apart for storage.4. When you try to hold the flowers together as a bouquet by hand, the top of the flowers fall off and onto the ground. You really need a vase/container for them and have to find one that works as this set doesn’t come with a container.Overall, you get what you pay for and quality control isn’t the best for this look-alike set. Our daughter (5 year) liked the set overall and had fun making her bouquet. Our son thought the quality control of the pieces and instructions could be better improved. There are some really good no name Lego kits available (we have assembled quite a few!). I think this is the first kit we received that actually had manufacturer defects in the parts.
Nice flowers
3.5 starsParts:Quality is pretty good, didn’t find any missing or damaged pieces. The parts also seem to all be standard Lego designs and colors.Instructions:Good, but tiny. And printed separately for each individual flower. A single large instruction book would have been a much better choice, in my opinion. It would be harder to damage or lose, and would be a better format for larger pictures.Support:There’s what appears to be a corporate email address printed on the bottom of the box, nothing more. I haven’t heard from anyone, nor do I really expect to. At least with the parts being standard, I can get replacements from most online Lego parts dealers.Age range:The box says 6+, and while a lot of 6 year olds might be able to build this, it’s also a question of how many would want to. It’s not like you can really play with these once you’ve built them. There’s a reason Lego markets their flower sets for teens and older. Conclusion:Not a bad set by any means, but there are quite a few little things that could and should be improved.
These look nice in the pictures and on the box but the reality is a bit further from that sadly. They’re challenging to build, fiddly and fragile, they come apart easily and they don’t like to be interacted with.Building them was a challenge. The instructions and build quality is a far cry from mainstream brands like Lego. Unclear at best.Once they are assembled they do look very nice. These are great for someone older looking for something interesting or fun to do in an evening with a nice glass of something. I would not recommend for children.
This little set may require patience and even tempers…haha! It comes in a nice colourful box and inside are 12 packets filled with Lego style components to build into flowers. Each pack has it’s own guide to making the flower up. The better half was quite excited to get this and try it out. Half an hour into building the tulip/rose(?) I had the “shout out” to go and help. Now the instructions made sense to me but I will admit they could be a little more descriptive maybe.I explained a few times what needed doing and where she had gone wrong to evil side glances at me…..and a few harrrrummphs! But since then apart from an occasional nod she has been building them fine and now “gets” the building instructions. She has been especially pleased with the sunflower so far (see pic), unfortunately on a different plant one of the flowers with red berries had part of the berry holding structure break – but it still looks ok.These are quite nice but yeah they do take a bit of tricky putting together of parts, if you are a Lego fanatic it’ll seem like easy stuff I guess. The product description here has a picture of a lady holding them as though they are a real bouquet….good luck with that as they would come apart. My wife has been holding them in a “pencil” holder until she has done them all and can find a vase – not sure how long they will stay on display though once complete. It is a nice set I must admit and I’m looking forward to when she has done them all, at which point I’ll take another picture, but it has it’s shortcomings too which are that the instructions are very “Kinder Egg” style and maybe some of the parts could have been more robust build.
