  1. You need an in-between device to connect to Garmin Connect
This is my first heart rate monitor and so I didn’t realize the Amazon description of the monitor meant I’d need a Garmin watch or computer as well, and couldn’t just connect directly to my phone using the Garmin Connect app. Seems like Garmin wants you to buy both the HRM-Dual and another one of their devices. However, internet to the rescue and I found 2 apps that will connect with it. Polar and Fitiv. I’m still on the free versions so far, but I’ve heard you can continue to use the free versions. Both of them though present the results nicely enough that I’ll consider buying a subscription to one of them. I’m still testing them out so will have a better idea which style/which app I like better. Both are good though. As for the HRM-Dual itself, it connected to both apps with no difficulty. It didn’t connect to Strava though despite all the trouble-shooting and me getting a trial subscription to Strava. Maybe at some point I’ll figure it out, but if not, then no big deal. The monitor did connect automatically to my Health app (iPhone 14). I can’t comment on battery life as I’ve not had it long enough. The strap seems sturdy, and it has stayed in place despite some vigorous exertions. I thought it had slipped down while cycling but it hadn’t moved at all. It was so comfortable I didn’t even know it was still in place. I kept pressing my fingers to just below my sternum where the monitor is located to double-check it was still in place. So far, quite happy with it and I don’t feel any need to buy another device just to use the HRM-Dual.

  2. Works well and great fit for petite people
I bought this to use for indoor cycling with a bike app on my iPhone. No connectivity issues and overall works really well. I am really happy with it.Also if you’re petite like me (measuring 27.5 inches around my chest, just under the sternum), it fits perfectly and I find it very comfortable. I even can make it even smaller if needed. I was worried that it would be too big for me.This is my first time using a heart rate monitor and did have a little bit of issue with the set up at first, but this was an issue with me rather than the product. So if anyone is having difficulties, here are a few tips that may help you. Before I could connect/find the heart rate monitor on my bike app, I had to first connect it to the blue tooth on my iPhone. After that, I can select/connect it to my bike app. I have to do this every time I use the bike app.The other issue that I was having was getting my heart rate monitor to stay connected. I realized that I didn’t wet the electrodes/contact patches on the back of the strap enough (like it shows in the Garmin HRM dual heart rate monitor tutorial). I was previously dabbing water on the contact zones instead of fully immersing them in water. Now, there is no connectivity issues at all, wears comfortably, and stays fully connected for my entire workout (I usually cycle for around 1.5 hours).A tip I learned about battery life. I saw a YouTuber talk about disconnecting one of the buttons of the heart rate monitor to preserve the battery life when not in use. Not sure how much of this makes a difference, but it looks like a good tip.

  3. Works great
I use it when rowing. Works with the old Concept 2 ERG data for PM3/4 app no problem. At the same time I can record my entire session HR monitor

  4. Terrible support and random data
First off this HRM works great for the first few weeks, even months. This was my 4th one, yes the other three are in various states of near garbage performance. They DO NOT LAST, but you need them because your $1000 Fenix watch has TERRIBLE HR monitoring too, so there you go.IMPORTANT INFO – if your Fenix or other expensive watch is useless at HR monitoring, and you kinda need it for fitness reasons, keep on the AWFUL Garmin customer service. They sent me two of these for free after I inundated them with workouts not tracked and garbage data. Of course these straps don’t last and really are junk too, typical Garmin product and the support folks DO NOT CARE…. Try to get free ones first. And as another review noted, changing the battery is often impossible – stripped mini screws – and doesn’t do anything anyways to change the horrid performance.

  5. Old tech and temperamental
Garmin’s own app won’t recognize this model. They recognize only the newer more expensive model. How lame is that! I had to try many different apps before I could see the heartrate. In the gym, I was able to connect to an old treadmill but none of the newer (4 year old) machines would connect with this. The strap and your body needs to be moist otherwise it shows very low and inaccurate readings. When it works, it seems fairly accurate, I cross checked using on machine sensors. All in all, this is fine for someone on a budget. On hindsight, I should have bought the newer model although they cost a lot more.

  6. Garmin Product Review
Garmin products are the best. Connectivity, compatibility, ease of use, range of functionality, suitability to specific sports are always best in class against other products when compared. I am owner/operator of a Canadian based multi-sports coaching business. Been doing so successfully for over 25 years. I continue to coach and manage a wide range of clientelle the world over. The full functionality of the Garmin product line plus their ability to virtually connect my clients and their workouts instantaneously to me, sometimes from the other side of the world, allows me to keep my arms around them in continuously meeting their every coaching need.

  7. Works great
Fits perfect and use it for cycling

  8. Works well; until it doesn’t.
This is my second Garmin HRM. They always work very well for 6-9 months and then they don’t. Both have become very temperamental. Occasionally sensing my heart rate, but most of the time, either losing connection completely, measuring extremely low or extremely high. I use it 4-6 times weekly for an hour or 2 at a time. Time to try a different brand.

  9. Got this to get more accurate heart rate tracking, and it definitely works better than the wrist tracker I have. Also, for iPhone, it can sync to heart rate in health tracker without having to download any additional apps; so that’s a plus for me. So far, so good! Would recommend if you’re looking for more a precise means of tracking heart rate for truer calories burned in a workout.

  10. Muy buen producto. Lo único que no me gustó es que no lo reconoce la app Connect, pero sí lo reconoce la app de Nike, que es para lo que la quería

  11. ótimo produto, de boa qualidade

  12. I got it to accurately monitor my heart rate during workouts where I have to take off my watch (mainly when boxing) it is very accurate and instantly connects to my garmin watch. Comfortable to wear even when I’m soaking in my sweat, I forget it’s there. It measures my HR instantly and accurately during any workout. The only thing I noticed is that it tends to stop measuring for a few seconds sometimes and I don’t know the reason for this. Other than that, it’s a great monitor from a great brand

  13. This works very well and stays attached to the chest without sliding. The read out is steady without the fluctuations seen with some chest belts. I use it with my Concept 2 rowing machine. Recommended.
