we had purchased the Mommy’s Helper Outlet Plugs from Amazon because they were very cheap, a box of 36 was only $2.99. They installed very easily, they look great, and are completely baby proof. He has been checking them out since I first installed them, wondering where his new toy the outlet plug went, and within a few days he completely lost all interest in the outlet. absolutely would recommend this product and would encourage anyone thinking about getting the Mommy’s Helper plugs to save their money. Yes, they are super cheap, but you get what you pay for.

My wife and I are beginning to child-proof our house so I’ve been proactively buying various child-proofing items and testing them out.I had previously purchased several Self-Closing Outlet Covers to install in our living room. They are very easy to install, look stylish compared to most other outlet covers we’ve seen, and are barely even noticeable as a child-proof product unless you look close. I’ve heard so many bad stories about the plastic prong inserts being bad as children can easily rip them out of the socket and try to swallow them so parents not only have an electrocution issue, but now a choking hazard as well.These Self-Closing Outlet Covers passed our test so I bought more in order to replace all outlet covers (within a child’s reach) with these ones. These self closing outlet cover plates are fantastic! They are leaps and bounds better than your standard plastic outlet covers you plug into the outlet. Theyâre not to hard to slide open but still hard enough for kids to slide them. They self retract when you unplug an item so you never forget to close them, it does it for you. The fit is great! And honestly, it makes the outlet look much classier. Installation is super simple! If you can turn a flat head screwdriver, then you can install these with out turning off any power to your house. Itâs literally that simple and easy. I highly recommend these to everybody because at some point youâll have small children (your own or family) in your home or pets. I canât recommend these enough!
These work as advertised. The covers slide shut after removing plug, and take a decent amount of force to slide over to insert plug. They definitely work better with the decora (single large rectangle) outlets as opposed to the older standard duplex (separate rounded outlets). The duplex receptacle uses a single center screw, if you tighten it enough to keep this cover from moving it tweaks the cover so that the outlet covers get stuck and won’t open. You have to back the screw off just a bit, the cover is a bit loose but still secure and functions properly. I believe some double sided mounting tape or velcro would help here. Decora outlets have two screws for mounting the cover and are more secure, and this cover functions perfectly even when tightened down securely. I decided to upgrade my receptacles to decora and the newer “tamper Resistant” standard. Even though the newer outlets have safety built in we’re still using these covers on the more child accessible outlets.
Bought these to make our outlets a little safer when our 8-month old boy is on the prowl. Heâs super active (crawls, stands, pushes our mini ottomans around) and has occasionally taken an interest in our outlets if thereâs nothing bigger around to distract him.The covers install quickly and easily (single screw).More screws were provided than necessary, which I liked (6 screws for 3 covers).The auto-closing mechanism is very firm and should frustrate little fingers.They secure to the outlets / boxes easily and firmly but if, like me, you have wonky or slightly loose outlets, these wonât fix that (theyâre just outlet covers). With that in mind: donât be tempted to over-tighten the screws, as the plastic may crack.The plastic itself is thicker than that present in the covers being replaced. It also sticks out slightly further, to accommodate the closing mechanisms. Aesthetically, I think they look great.Once installed, inserting plugs is straightforward. Unplugging results in the covers closing almost instantly. Nice!No qualms about recommending these and will likely be purchasing more.
