Poor connection
We first loved the camera, and it came highly recommended to us. And now it cuts in and out all the time, never being able to hold a secure connection. It is in the room next to our modem, so itâs not our internet. Super frustrating and wonât recommend this product to anyone.
UPDATE 02/23: I had an issue with the camera after about 2 months of use. It wasn’t panning correctly and the connection, even in direct connect mode was extremely slow and leggy. I contacted support and with very few questions asked they set me up for a return unit. This had to have been the easiest support call I’ve ever been on with a company. Less then 10 minutes on the phone and another unit was set up to be sent to me. They sent a return shipping label as well with 90 days to return the defective unit. The new unit arrived at my house in less than a week.I’d give 10 stars if I could for the added customer service.——–Did a lot of online research for a good baby cam because there are a ton of bad ones out there. This one was a little pricier then the average but I wanted a stand alone screen and something I could use on my phone.The app set up was a little wonky but eventually got it to work. The device screen that comes with it let’s you turn an led indicator on or off when the cam is working. It has some white noise and music that will play with it and a night light.It’s night mode works pretty well. You will have to tweak some of the alert detection features a bit before you find why you like. I had the noise sensitivity set to high and it was detecting the music coming from the device. It allows you to change the sensitivity.One of the features I bought it for was the park mode. Basically you can stow the camera facing down and not recording when not in use. Gives a little piece of mind. I mounted the camera to the wall and so far everything is working well.
I loved this monitor at first especially since it has the option to access it from the app on your phone but now that I have had it over a year, the parent monitor is always beeping and saying âestablishing connection.â My internet is fine, I have no issues with any other devices in my house having Wi-Fi issues. So I donât get why it wonât work as good now. Since I am out of my year warranty, Leap frog wonât do anything. They also to just re purchase the whole thing and they can give. 10% discount. So crazy to me.
My baby is now 5 months and we’ve been using this daily for the last couple of months. I am overall unimpressed by quality of the product for the following reasons:- Poor Connection: The video is constantly cutting in and out (on the app and the baby monitor). Several times a day, the screen becomes extremely pixelated and blurred. In the middle of the night, the monitor beeps loudly (indicating connection to the baby unit has been lost) and this wakes up my husband and I.- Poor Night Vision: The baby unit is 3 feet above and 1 foot to the right of my baby’s crib and I can’t see my baby’s eyes in the video to tell if they are opened or closed. The daytime video is great and clear, but we nap our baby with blackout curtains and at night time it’s obviously dark, so the quality of the picture just isn’t working for us.- Poor motion detection: My motion detection settings are set to the highest sensitivity but the camera misses recording so much movement. Many nights, I see that my baby has done a complete 180 degree turn and most times there is no video recorded.-Parking mode: The baby unit has issues returning back to its normal position after getting out of parking mode. Sometimes it tries so hard and cant fix it so it disconnects the camera and I have to manually restart the camera.I wish I had purchased another baby monitor and am feeling a little robbed for spending the extra money on this one. Its unfortunately past my return date so we may just have to buy another and throw this one out.
Super easy to use and the quality for both color and black and white is great
I would like to point out that I got the âopen boxâ one. I kind of figured there would end up being something wrong with it. The microphone to speak doesnât work at all. It is a little slow in picking up the noises. Also itâs very laggy. However, I LOVE the screen and the product itself. It does look good & I love all the different features it has!
