Healthy eating isn?t always easy?especially for new and/or busy parents. Andrea Bemis is here to provide delicious, simple recipes for parents to help their children develop a healthy relationship with real food at an early age. Her kid-friendly healthy meals and snacks are a breath of fresh air in the noise of being told what to feed infants for primary development?she has created simple, effective ways for them to get the nutrients they need. While this concept may seem intimidating, Andrea?s simple creations will save parents time and money but not skip out on taste, which means happy kids and happy parents! As a new mom herself who runs a sustainable farm of fresh fruits and vegetables for both her family and the local community, her cookbook is for parents to better understand the biology of young children and their fragile digestive systems and help focus on an evolving approach to feeding children. Included are chapters for New and Solid Foods (because it can be stressful to know what to feed a tiny human!) that include recipes such as Winter Squash with Cinnamon and Ghee Purée, Banana Spinach Pancakes, Pumpkin Meatballs, and Cauliflower Cheese Fritters. Additional chapters include recipes for kids and parents alike, such as Sheet Pan Burgers with Sweet Potato Tater Tots, Homemade Tortilla Chips and Farm Stand Salsa, and Almond Thumbprint Cookies with Cherry Chia Jam. Whatever inspiration for clean eating that new parents are looking for, whether it be snacks, breakfast, dinner, or dessert, they will find it in Andrea?s latest offering of whole, real foods.

I was lucky enough to get to test a few of the recipes before the book came out, and my whole family (parents, toddler, baby) loved them, so I knew the book would be great⦠but itâs even BETTER than expected! The recipes are great, Andrea has sprinkled excellent tips and advice (âfood for thoughtâ) throughout the book, and the pictures are beautiful. Iâm happy to say that this book is going to be covered in toddler handprints, spatula smears, and dog-eared favorites very, very quickly. If youâre on the fence (Which you shouldnât be), her associated blog letthemeatdirtkids gives a great preview of her style of very doable, very delicious, family-friendly recipes.
It’s ofen hard to find recipes that incorporate whole, nutrient dense foods that a child will actually enjoy. This book is a great reminder that the best food for you can also taste great. The book is full of great recipes that my toddler is already asking for again, and many of the recipes are surprisingly straightforward to prepare. I often struggle with finding ways to incorporate vegetables into my toddler’s diet, and Andreas recipes do a great job of incorporating greens and root vegetables in innovative and delicious ways. These recipes will help ensure your child is never picky and excited to eat.
We just received the book and my post-nap toddler went through the entire thing asking if we could make each recipe tonight for dinner while my 8 month old squealed with glee at the photos.Beautiful photos! So helpful! Thank you to Andrea Bemis for the labor of love that is this book. It will help me keep my family healthy and well-fed AND get me back into eating the vegetables I bring out of the garden/from the market (often languishing due to the aforementioned toddler).
The content itself is wonderful, but this book is printed in an entirely messed up order! The sections are out of order and repeated. Please send me a new one!
This was the most helpful resource when I started feeding my son more solids! The whole family loves Andrea Bemisâ recipes and these are now staples in our house!
