Mixed Feelings About Baby Books
I recently ordered a set of six baby books to give to a friend who’s going to be a dad in a few days. The books are designed for babies, and they seem really well-made at first glance. The fabric is soft and flexible, which makes them perfect for little hands to hold. The pages are colorful, with vibrant images that are sure to catch a baby’s attention. Additionally, the covers make a crinkling noise, which is great for stimulating a baby’s curiosity and focus.The format is ideal for babiesâsmall enough for them to handle, and the books are also washable, which is a big plus. I like that the themes of the books are varied; thereâs one about transportation, one about farm animals, another about fruits, and so on. However, some of the image choices struck me as a bit odd. For example, in the book about âforest animals,â there are creatures like a tiger, an elephant, and a giraffe, which donât really belong in a forest environment. It’s more of a jungle-animal mix, which felt a bit mismatched for the theme.The food-themed book is another curious choice. Instead of focusing on healthy foods or typical meals, itâs packed with fast food items like hamburgers, pizza, fries, ice cream, and even sushi. Itâs a strange combination that doesnât seem quite fitting for a babyâs learning experience.I will say the books are cute, but Iâm a little disappointed with the overall quality, especially considering the price. For the amount I paid, I was expecting something more durable and refined. In the end, Iâm having mixed feelings about these books and Iâm not sure Iâll go ahead with giving them as a gift, as they come across as a bit cheap. While they have some redeeming qualities, they didnât meet my expectations.

Of course, it does show that in the photo.They are made of a smooth satin finish material that is soft to the touch and they are colourful and attractive.The covers have cellophane inserted inside which makes a noise as you handle them. Seems odd to me, but it must be intentional and might help attract baby’s attention.The pages illustrate various items for learning words and even a few numbers as the pages are numbered.A good way to encourage curiosity about reading in the tiniest babies.
