Well built and sturdy gate.
We got this gate to block off another hallway from our dog. Our dog is good to not jump at gates, so I installed it without the wall cups for now. If it becomes a problem, I’ll install those too so that the gate will be more secure and won’t slide at all along the wall. Our kids are well beyond needing baby gates, so it’s just the dog to worry about. If they were still young, I’d install it properly from the get go.Installation was fairly straightforward. Looking at the pictures in the amazon page is basically enough to get a sense of what goes where. We didn’t need the extension pieces because the doorway is a but small anyway. The construction of the gate seems solid. The bottom piece is an interesting addition too because it supposedly stop you from stubbing your toe or tripping over it.I’m giving it 5 stars because I think it is a very good gate. I didn’t really factor in affordability. I don’t know how it compares to competition. It currently has a coupon and a promo code, so it’s definitely a good deal with those.
Sturdy Gate
We got this as we are doing renovations in our home and needed to prevent our dogs from wandering into the work area. We did not want a gate that could only be hardware mounted to a wall and this gate has the option for a compression fit as well as a hardware mount option. We used the compression and I was surprised at how sturdy it held. We had gates in the past for our kids, but we were always fixing the compression fit style or we had to hardware mount. I am very pleased with this particular gate in that once it was up we did not have to make adjustments all the time. We did use a shim where the gate meets the wall, and this was simply to disperse the compression across a wider area and prevent damage to the wall. This is such a great gate with included expansions and all included hardware for mounting. I was nervous at first due to past experience, but after the first day of in and out all day due to the renovations, this gate held well and needed no adjustment. This fit perfectly across the hall and was a cinch to pass in and out with very little effort. The finish is a gloss white and I feel it won’t chip or damage very easily. After 2 weeks of renovations we took it down and found no damage on the walls whatsoever – again, we used shims to help prevent that. We had this setup in about 10 mins, but it will take a little longer if you are direct wall mounting.Overall, this was a great option for keeping the dogs out and allowing us to pass through with ease. It is very rigid and strong and I would attribute that to the metal construction. 5 stars for quality metal construction, sturdiness, quality of finish and variable mounting options with everything included. Considering this gate held up to the pressure of our husky and mountain dog, I can’t recommend this enough. Very reliable, though if I was using this for stairs in preventing children from accidents, I would most certainly mount this directly to the wall with the included hardware.
Great option for both compression and wall mounting
This gate works really well as a compression gate, but also gives you the option to have it mounted onto a wall as well. The Dual swing door is very useful especially if you’re walking up the stairs with something bulky in your hands.We used the compression (or rather expanding) option, and it worked really well in our house, but when we brought it to my mother’s house, her staircase seemed to have a bit of a wobble and it felt like we might cause damage when installing the gate.This baby gate is definitely not really great looking which probably is my only negative about it. I really like how sturdy it is once attached and how far it extends.The price feels a bit high, though currently there is a coupon available, which makes it a better value.
Seems sturdy, and love the pressure mounting!
Finding a baby gate that works can be a hassle, but this gate from GROWNSY has been a delight. It was easy to install through pressure mounting (Though you can attach it to the wall if you wish) and once it’s installed it stayed in place with no issues. The ability to open the gate is also a massive plus as we’ve gotten a bit tired of constantly stepping over our old ones.Overall we’re very happy with it, it’s kept our little one safe and we’ve had no issues! Recommended!

I am reviewing the Mom’s Choice-GROWNSY Baby Gate for Stairs, 29.5″-48.4″ Pressure Mounted Baby Gate for Top of Stair & Doorway with Y-Shaped Rods…If you are looking for a quality gate for the staircase, this is definitely worth a look. This is the third gate of this style I have gotten, and both the others ones broke within a month. This one has been up for roughly 3 weeks now, and going strong. It is well made with quality metal and no cheap wood that is not supportive at all. I don’t have any kids here anymore, but I do have 5 great Pyrenees and 5 Shorkies. And now a foster cat. This gate is still like I just installed it yesterday. I love the step to help prevent tripping, it really does help me out a lot! It is made with quality materials and workmanship and is built to last and save lives, absolutely worth the cost. I would definitely recommend this gate to others with a need.

Being a first time Grandpa, I was preparing for a visit from my Son/wife with my grandson. My house was not toddler proof and I had a set of stairs that needed to be blocked, I saw this baby gate on amazon and quickly order, came 2 day later just in time to set up. My application was unique as the foot of the stairs was next to a window and could not place any gate there do to not having any solid surface on one side due to window, I went with two gates to black access to the stairs from the main house, these work perfectly and were extremely easy to set up. they had extenders but I did not have use but see how that would be a benefit for other application needed a wider area to block. Once in place they were solid and held in place with any fear of them falling or being pulled down. The Gate made it easy access for the rest for us adults. Not having to step over or take down to get upstairs was a real plus. They were only for a visit so I have store them for next time or to use in other applications. I would highlyly recommend to anyone. One big hint in installing, since I am one who does not read instructions I cut a zip tied that prevent the spring action n the gate to not engage which makes installation easier, though I did it, it was still pretty easy to install but took a little more effort and adjustment on the tensioners on the side. I learned my lesson on the first one and the second went up easy peasy. Lesson learned do not cut the tension strap. It is well marked on the product.
Took me fifteen minutes tops to get the gate installed at the base of our stairs in the basement. Having a play area there it helps knowing our kid can’t climb up the stairs randomly! The gate looks very sturdy even when open. I like all the different options it comes with to adjust for different openings. We had to use just one of the smaller additions to fit our hallway. Very nice gate and great price too!
I have this baby gate at the top and bottom of my stairs. Love, love, love it!! My two boys havenât been able to break it yet and weâve had it for over a year now. Itâs very sturdy and love the latch. You only need one hand to unlock it and it swings either direction. 10/10
I’m relieved to know my baby is no longer at risk of falling down the stairs.
