Love this gate. Itâs fairly straightforward to install and looks really nice. Instructions were clear, and even without using the included non-slip brackets it stays in place. The door swings smoothly, is easy to lock and you can slam it and it will self lock. We use it to keep our large dogs in the living room when needed, and they have never knocked it over, even with their full weights against it.

After 4 kids and a few dogs in our lives, we’ve tried a whole lot of different baby gates. They come in different styles and methods of blocking entry ways and stairs. This is probably the most sturdy and durable I have seen yet. It does not require any drilling, which I know creates skepticism if it will last, or be strong enough to stay put, particularly in a busy entryway or hallway. This is very durable and solid. A little heavier than other baby gates I’ve tried. It’s fairly easy to install and uninstall.I really like the locking mechanism. It requires you to slide a button while holding down another button at the same time to unlock. It’s difficult for a young child to figure it out, so I’m confident to say that it’s 100% baby-proof. Older kids can learn how to open it with practice.The bottom of the gate has a stopper feature, so if you want it to only swing in one direction, switch the stopper on in the direction you don’t want it swinging open towards. We use the gate at the top of our stairs, so we don’t use the stopper which also works well.The best part is that it’s tall, so a large dog won’t easily jump over it. My cats are still able too though, my fatter cat struggles a bit, but still manages.It also prevents my kids from climbing over it like they do our shorter, plastic, pressurized baby gate.I highly recommend and I would even consider purchasing another one if needed.
Replaced two gates with 1
Iâve been dealing with 2 gates for years because of a curious kitten who would jump the single gate to go exploring downstairs.This gate was clearly an upgrade, and it was taller so I tried my luck using just the one gate.Several days later Iâm pleased to say there have been 0 attempts to jump it. The cat is now older, larger, less active, and less curious than he was as a kitten.This new gate is so much easier to open and close once you understand it. Slide the button forward, squeeze the button on the bottom, and open. Easy enough to do with 1 hand. Closing is easy enough to do with no hands. Give it a bit of a slam and it clips in to place locked.The construction is MOSTLY metal. One curious oversight is the single bar extension (which I needed to use with my standard size door frame) has plastic on top despite all the other pieces being metal. The 2 bar extensions by contrast have metal for vertical bars and for the top piece. Other than the out of place piece of plastic all the rest of the construction is top notch.Itâs a solid and easy to use gate. Iâm very happy with how it turned out.

There is Secure Tech which uses a visual red/ green indicator that lets the parentknow when the gate is secured or not secured.I got this gate primarily to create a child-safe zone, I installed it on the staircase so that my children do not go on the staircase, to prevent fall hazards.This is also gate can also be used to create a safe zone for pets as it’s tall enough (36″ high) to prevent animals from jumping over it. I absolutely recommend this gate.
