Keep your curious cruiser inside child-friendly areas with the Safety 1st Top of Stairs Metal Gate. This metal baby gate complements your home while keeping baby safely inside, or out of, certain areas. As a hardware-mounted gate, this gate is ideal for use at top of stairs, but can also be used at the bottom of stairs and between rooms for maximum versatility. The frameless design ensures that the walkway is completely clear when the gate is open and there is nothing to step over, preventing any potential trip hazards. This gate is specially designed to be operated with one-hand, because we know parents often have their hands full. Easily open the gate by rotating the release lever and lift to swing out of the way. The sturdy hinges allow the gate to be set to swing open in one direction only for top of stairs use, or in both directions which is perfect for between rooms. This ability to choose provides you with added convenience and protection. The adjustable gate stop ensures that the gate can swing only one way for safer top of stairs use. Additionally, the one button release on the hinges makes it easy for you to remove the gate during periods of non-use.
Use in multiple areas of the home: top of stairs (hardware mount only), bottom of stairs & hallways or doorways
Hardware mount for maximum security at top of stairs Adjustable width 27″-42″, 28″ high
Frameless design to prevent any potential trip hazards
Swing control settings let parent choose: one direction-only (top of stairs) or both directions (between rooms)
Pass-through swing convenience when hardware mounted.
Drill with 3/32″ Size Bit

Great customer service!
Been using this almost a year now, when the bottom wall bracket just snapped.Called customer service and they are shipping a new hardware bag.Good to know there are still reliable companies out there.
Better than the “Tall fully assembled” Safety 1st
This one is cheaper and better than “Safety 1st Ready to Install Baby Gate – 29-42″ Wide, 30” Tall, Fully Assembled Gate And Ready To Install.”This gate is metal, the hinges are metal, the things they mount on to the walls are plastic.Over all sturdy. The plastic things that solidify the two metal gates into one are useless unless you have exactly one gap between the two parts. I used black electrical tape to affix my two pieces together. Works great. looks good. black is black.CAT friendly. mount a few inches higher than recommended. Too small for a baby, big enough for a cat.
Doesnât last
Unsure if I have a fault item but it been about a month since Iâve set it up. It was fine for the first week and than slowly started to fall apart. My toddler managed to haul off the latch and where the hinges are – the plastic came off. Itâs wild that this is for a staircase. I wouldnât recommend. Thankfully it was just a gate between our living room and kitchen, otherwise we might of been looking at a hospital stay.
This gate was fairly easy to install.
This fate was fairly easy to install and works well. It is easy to remove the gate ( leaving the hinges a catch in place ) when my grandchild isnât visiting.
Baby gate
Havenât installed yet but looks sturdy and simple
Not great
I tried installing the gate and it’s possible to do so however it’s not the sturdiest mechanism out there and although it will work I think there are better alternatives
As advertised
Only had it up for two weeks, so far seems pretty sturdy and is keeping the dogs under control. Our previous gate finally gave up so trying this one, once we got used to how it opens and closes (the catch is a little tricky) it seems to be working well.
Easily break install screws
Break screws even manually tighten.
