Specially designed to span extra-wide openings, the Summer® Secure Space™ Extra Wide Safety Gate in Slate Gray is secure, convenient to use, and can be customized to fit your space. This 30” tall baby and dog gate fits openings 28.5″ to 52″ wide and can be installed in doorways or hallways using the no-drill pressure mount system. Hardware is included for a secure installation at the top of stairs. It’s easy to operate this gate when your hands are full. The convenient auto-close feature will shut and latch the door behind you. Or engage the hold-open feature by opening the door more than 90 degrees. If installed between rooms, the gate door opens in either direction. Over stairs, add the included door stopper to help prevent the door from swinging outward. Package includes hardware installation kit. Recommended tools for hardware installation: drill, Phillips-head screwdriver, pencil, measuring tape.

Amazing sturdy gate for babies or pets!
I first bought an extra wide r***lo gate and didnât like how flimsy it is.This summer gate is so much more stronger and the always-open gateway feature is super useful when my dog is not around.Installation is flexible and easy. I like to situate the gateway in the middle for accessibility.
Easy set up and excellent lock system
I bought this gate to protect my grandson while visiting in my home. I placed it at the entrance of my living room so he could not speedily crawl towards the stairs. It was easy to set up and easy to open the door to the gate. I really like that it lock closes automactically. I did not want a gate that had to be screwed into the walls. The tension holders are strong and secure. Great alternative to hardware. Definitely recommend.

Good and sturdy
Once properly setup, it locks well. Easy to unlatched with one hand. Make sure to have good anchor points that are facing each other. We had to build a wooden box around our banister because the post was round and wasn’t directly opposite of the wall (hooray for curved stairs). Love the self closing feature. It’s still standing after 2.5 years with a toddler that enjoys crashing his ride-on car into it and hanging off it like a monkey.
Does the job
The baby gates are a good height and it does the job. I got the grey one but i wish they had more color options. The grey one can remind you of prisons or jail cells.
Sturdy, and looks modern
The grey matches the colour scheme of our house perfectly. It is also a very sturdy gate, keeps our dog on the main floor and is easy to open once you understand how to maneuver the gate. Really pleased with it!
Donât buy. AWFUL
If I could give this zero I would. I did order the open box one – so maybe that was the issue but it had the Amazon âsticker of approvalâ . The gate latch doesnât lock at all- arrived broken. The pieces constantly come apart. And I unfortunately canât return it.
Perfect for my space
Needed a wide gate and this was perfect. It is a bit of a pain to install but you’ll realize which ones need to be tightened or loosened once you start playing around with it. It is sturdy and I like that the door will stay open if you push it past 90 degrees.

Wow this is exactly the gate we needed! Sturdy, easy to install, and love how the door clicks into place to stay open so it doesnât bang shut accidentally on our daughterâs hands. The spaces between the bars are perfect for her fingers too, and she actually loved using it as a support to learn how to stand and walk! She also loves banging it with spoons as a musical instrument. Unexpected multi-use 🙂
Seems a tad smaller than I needed.
Our 4 month old cockapoo has gotten her head thru the widest section of rungs – by the hinged part- twice now. Once when she was about 7 lbs and I was able to pull her head out. She did it again the other day – sheâs 10 lbs now – and squealed! I came around the corner and she was struggling to get her head out. She did but my mind was freaking out and imagining calling 911 to come cut the metal gate apartâ¦!!! Now we put our old wooden gate in front of this gate so she canât put her head thruâ¦defeats the purpose of having the âdoorâ on the gate. Eventually she will be large enough that it wonât be an issue but be warned that this can happen. Also, we bought two of these and one of them doesnât latch easily, we have to push it together every time. The other one latches tightly upon closing every time. In general we really do like these gates itâs just that that one area is too wide for a tiny puppy.
