A Great Game!
Many years ago, I received a gift something like this, called a “Tickle-Bee”. Kind of the same idea, where you had a magnetic “pen”, and you moved a bee around a course. The game is more about moving colours around into various patterns, than it is about magnetism.There are four colours of wooden discs, four columns of space and 16 discs in total. The idea of the game is match one of 39 different cards that have the colours in a specific way, with the coloured discs before you. The entire game is covered in a sheet Plexiglas, so you need to move the wooden discs around with the magnetic pen. The game means you need to think about how to get various colours from one area to the next.The best part of this game – to me – is that fact it does not use batteries! Nor does it have any video screen. It does not make any kind of noise. It is a quiet, thoughtful game, where you need to think about how to move pieces around.I find it extremely safe. There are no sharp edges of any kind on the Plexiglas or the wooden base. Each piece is very smooth. In fact, the makers have even hidden the screws used to hold the Plexiglas down, by caping them with small half-spherical plastic balls.The magnetic pen is held in it’s home with a small magnet itself, and it attached the board with a 14″ string – given a player lots of extra length to reach any part of the game.The back is just smooth wood – lots of room for a “This Belongs To …..” so it won’t get lost.Not only can this game be played by duplicating each of the 39 included cards, but players can make up there own patterns. They could also make up different kinds of games – for example, timing how long a particular pattern takes someone to complete.Bottom Line – A very creative game. Simple in what it actually is, but the beauty is in the fact you can go beyond what the instructions state, and start to create your own rules. Very well made, simple instructions and a world of entertainment!
