Reviews

  1. Great picture quality!
Pleasantly supervised with the quality given the relatively low cost. The video quality, which I run at the max 2k is very good. As is the detection, notifications and easy to control via the ‘TP-Link app’. I bought 3 of these (on sale) and 3 256Gb micro Samsung sd cards so I didn’t need to subscribe to plan. These are used to supplement my outdoor cameras and whilst installed indoors, are pointed outside. Great during the day, but of course at night, through the glass you don’t see anything other than the glass reflection. But I knew this, so no complaints here! In my case I can’t comment on the night vision for this use. But very impressed and will be replacing my existing outdoor cameras with TP-Link too!

  2. Very good security camera.
Easy to set up, very sensitive with my movement and the video quality is very clear. Happy with this purchase.

  3. Good quality and feature for the price
C100 and C110What I like is 1. The price is quite reasonable for the features and quality. 2. Video quality is good and smooth even when watching live away from home (C100 seems not as good as C110). 3. There is a few seconds (~5 seconds) buffer recording/pre-recording captured before the actual object detected in motion. 4. Mltiple motion monitor zones. 5. Low light video quality is good. 6. Setup was easy. What I don’t like is 1. The video recording length too long, ie even after the moving object is gone or stopped the video is still recording for another 2 min or so, I would say 30 seconds more video recording is more than enough after no more motion is detected, ideally, configurable max length of video clip. 2. Multiple monitor zone is a great for a camera with this price but the zone can only be configured in rectangular shape and can’t be rotated, not flexible at all, other brand name camera allow mulitple monitor zone in six point flexible hexagonal shape which is much more ideal and practical.3. Night mode is no good at all, can’t see anything further than 6 feet, not the described 30 ft. ie. unable to see nor detect any motion from 6 ft or over in night mode. (Having said that, it is the night mode in complete dark environment which rely on the ifra red that is no good, it still works okay if there is dim light / low light around by simply using the day mode).I like the Tapo camera except some of the features and capability, I am still checking other Tapo camera model to see if there is one suits my needs.

  4. Nice product
    Working well

  5. Great visuals and motion detector
The camera is clear as heck for day and night. I can talk through the camera, and let people know I see them in my room. It took 10 minutes to set up and the cloud memory gives a free 30 day trial to try out. Afterwards, it is $32-$45 a YEAR. It’s about $4-$5 a month if you prefer. You do need to be a little tech aware to set it up. But it’s easy over all.You can turn privacy mode on, and it turns the camera off. You can also set an alarm, I haven’t tried it yet because I haven’t left the house with it activated. I’m pretty happy with it for my needs. It works great as a baby monitor also, it sends a notification that there’s movement immediately! Live feed is the greatest factor.

  6. Unreliable as a Security Camera
Unreliable. It’ll work for weeks, then go offline without warning. Strong Wi-Fi signal is readily available, however the camera will constantly: Drop signal, skip notifications, stop notifications altogether. I’ve tried switching it to record everyday when I left the office, and set it to “Privacy Mode” every morning when I arrived at work… It was unreliable then. Later I tried keeping it on full-time, pointing down right above my door to record entries only, but it still would prove unstable. When it reaches a certain point of non-connectivity, simply unplugging it then plugging it back in will not work to reboot the system: Removing the camera from the software, and starting the connection process again from scratch is the only way to bring it back online. I’ve had to do this several times. Very ineffective as a security camera.

  7. Great Camera
I ordered this camera after doing some research! I had purchased one at Walmart but, returned it as the night vision wasn’t very good, and that was the sole reason I wanted a camera. I’ve only had this camera for a short period of time and I already like it 10 times more! I like that when a motion is detected I get a video playback of the motion instead of just a picture. It can detect motions as in vehicles or people or both! The night vision on this camera is amazing, I can see just as clear in the night as I can during the day! Inexpensive and worth the purchase for sure!

  8. Good price, decent cameras BUT…
The night vision doesn’t detect much, but during the day it is good. It’s really too bad that night time it doesn’t detect much, so I will be returning the cameras. The price is good, setup was easy.

  9. As someone who has delved into the world of home security cameras, purchasing and testing models from Meross, Ubiquiti, Nest, Ring, and others, I’ve encountered my fair share of unique challenges with each brand. I’ve even invested over $200 on some Ubiquiti cameras, all in the pursuit of finding the perfect balance of functionality, ease of use, and affordability. However, it wasn’t until I came across the TP-Link Tapo 2K Indoor Camera that I felt I had found a device that stood out in the crowded market, especially for a very specific need: ensuring the safety and monitoring of my in-laws who have recently moved into an assisted living community. The aspect of this camera that immediately caught my attention was its affordability combined with its robust feature set, something I had begun to think was impossible to find. Unlike other systems that nickel and dime you for every additional feature, the TP-Link Tapo offers a comprehensive package without the need for a subscription service. This was particularly appealing as it enabled me to keep an eye on my in-laws’ well-being without incurring ongoing costs.Installation and setup were astonishingly straightforward. I opted for a 256GB SD card, which was more than adequate for our needs and was incredibly easy to install and configure. This ease of setup is not something I can say for all the cameras I’ve tested in the past, where sometimes the setup process seemed almost deliberately complicated. The video quality is another point where the Tapo 2K Indoor Camera shines. It delivers crisp, clear images that make it easy to see what’s happening, even from a distance. But perhaps the feature that sets it apart the most is the ability to playback footage remotely. This has given me peace of mind, knowing that I can easily check in on my in-laws at any time, from anywhere.Price-wise, the Tapo 2K is unbeatable. Considering the high costs of some competitors’ cameras that still require additional outlays for full functionality, the value proposition of the Tapo 2K is clear. It’s an affordable, effective solution for anyone looking to secure their home or, in my case, keep a watchful eye on loved ones in a care setting. In conclusion, the TP-Link Tapo 2K Indoor Camera has proven to be a little gem in a market saturated with overpriced and overcomplicated alternatives. Its combination of ease of use, excellent video quality, remote playback capability, and affordability make it a standout option. It’s a purchase I’ve been thoroughly pleased with and would recommend to anyone in a similar situation or anyone looking for a reliable home security camera without unnecessary frills or expenses.
