****update Nov 2024 – I’ve been using this for 3 months and I love it!****I’ve been using the Phillips Sunrise alarm for over a decade. I wanted to get another one for another room. This was MUCH cheaper, so I was hesitant.Cons:- not as many light settings or volume settings as the expensive Phillips Sunrise- because there are only 3 levels of light settings (low, medium, high) the range of sunrise to wake you up isn’t as gradual as the expensive ones. Basically, it turns on at a low setting, like a switch, whereas the expensive ones are extremely gradual.- the buttons to set the time and alarm are on the bottom instead of the side.Pros:- love the touch button on top.- love the different light/mood settings.- great price point.I’d say it’s worth it. Been using it about a month now. I just keep it below eye level from the bed so the brightness isn’t as intense. If you’ve never used a sunrise alarm, they really make a huge difference in your morning mood. You’ll find you’re not as grumpy when you finally get out of bed compared to being woken up in a pitch black room.
What I needed for dark mornings
I only use the light feature as an alarm for dark mornings and for that it is perfect. a slow gradual increase in brightness about a half hour before you have your alarm set to go off. As a clock it kinda sucks. The numbers are so thin and on a shiny silver background so during the daytime it is hard to read. At night the clock numbers are very bright. Having said that, it is the least ugly of all the sunrise alarm clock I could find and the sunrise was the feature i bought it for. Final verdict as a clock to read the time it isn’t great, but as a light up alarm it is fantastic and highly recommend. It has made waking up in dark mornings significantly easier. It also has sounds and other light colour options.
Compact, easy to use wake up night light
This little wake up light is compact and easy to use. There are a number of options for the alarm sound – from a steady beep which gets louder the longer you ignore it, to birds chirping and water rippling to waves. There are also a number of settings for the light as well.I tend to be a person who starts playing with a product before I read the directions, so as a result, I did take a few tries before I decided it would be wise to read the directions. I was not keen on the steady beeping of the alarm and really hoped I could wake up to waves and birds chirping! After a quick review of the directions, I was set. The directions are clear and easy to follow. So a note to all of you ‘hands on’ people . . . read the directions first.The light gradually gets brighter and honestly, I was awakened by the light before the birds started chirping too loudly. It was quite a pleasant way to wake up.
Pretty good
Lots of options for lights and sounds which is good. However, I wouldnât say that itâs the best alternative to an iPhone alarm as I find it doesnât gradually wake me up, could be my problem though because I am a relatively heavy sleeper. Iâm also more likely to go back to sleep after I turn it off because it doesnât trigger my fight or flight like an iPhone alarm, which is a pro and a con. Itâs also not as bright as I thought it was gonna be, itâs more so concentrated around the light than all around my room. It is bright enough to read and write though.
Hatch âDupeâ
I initially brought this as a âdupeâ for the Hatch alarm clock since they did not ship to Canada at the time. I am pleasantly surprised and absolutely love this!I waited a few weeks before posting my review so I could give accurate feedback. The alarm clock is easy to set. You can customize the timing, sounds, sunrise (or no sunrise) as well as snooze options. There are a variety of pleasant sounds to wake up to. I currently have mine set to gradually wake me up with sunrise and then the alarm will go off with nature sounds. I find myself now waking up to the sunrise and not needing the âalarmâ.It has a minimal look that matches any decor and looks nice on a nightstand. It can also double as a reading light or beside lampVery happy with my purchase!

This light has totally changed my sleep. I always wanted the super expensive sunrise alarm clocks, but this one is amazing for the price. Has a great assortment of nature alarm sounds, the sunrise feature works awesome, and also works great just as a lamp with lots of different colours and light intensities. Also love the timed sleeping nightlight feature. Just wish it had a timed sleeping white noise feature. The sunrise feature wakes me up before the noise even does and I wake up feeling so refreshed and not groggy. Awesome for the dark winter mornings
Stopped working
Not worth it – alarm would go off 10-15 minutes after scheduled alarm time and light “rise” setting cannot be adjusted as advertised. The alarm stopped working all together after using only a few times. Works well as a nightstand light, but that’s it unfortunately.

Besides the fact that it was addressed to a person with the incorrect surname and delivered several days late, the alarm clock arrived with a US plug. I cannot change it as the transformer is in the plug. I have returned it.
