DON’T USE THE PROVIDED SCREWS
I loved the hardware and has worked well to lock the window but………………………The included screws are “self tapping”. The tip of each screw has a cutter to developethe hole for the screw to go in. There is the problem.The cutting head is too wide and leaves little material for the screw threads to actually grip.Attached to an aluminum frame the first screw barely gripped enough to be firm at all.Changed to a normal screw and now the remaining assembly is snug and tight.Just an FYI.
Cracked my window
I went to install this on my swinging window. I watched the video on how to do it, and did it in the exact same way. It put two cracks in my windows in line with the screws. It will be an expensive fix. Save your money and find another solution.

My son (age 5) is that kid who is always trying to escape — and who can figure out any window latch, doorknob cover, cabinet lock that we have ever tried. And if he can’t, he just breaks them. You can see one failed culprit in the photos. We are building a porch and the roof is right outside his windows, and I know the temptation to climb out there will be way too much for him. So, we needed to find something. After much searching, I came across these and decided to give them a try. Installation took me all of 10-15 minutes for 3 of them. The windows in question are vinyl, double-hung windows and these things are perfect as long as you install them in the right spot. I had to adjust placement a little to make sure the window didn’t open too far, but once I got that figured out it was a breeze. They are inexpensive, strong, and relatively unobtrusive — and now my husband and I can sleep knowing our son can’t climb out his windows! Fantastic product!
