We love the classic Purple Monkey song so I was super excited to find this baby toy. It’s durable and sturdy but not too heavy. My only complaint is the volume doesn’t go loud enough.
The 1-year-old in our family thought this was charming. It’s very simple, which is age appropriate. There are a couple thick plastic pages with the words of the song printed on them. The child can activate the playing of the song (with a woman’s voice singing the lyric) by either pushing the big yellow button or by opening the first page of the book. The lyric is printed on each page, so when a child learns to read they can turn the page at the appropriate point as they listen. It’s a sweet and charming item and perfect for a little one.
My little loved her play mat and this was our soundtrack for the first year of life so when I saw this book I knew my little needed it. She loves to flip through the pages and groove to the song. Itâs very sturdy and has held up great to one year old play and she loves to feel like she is reading all on her own. This has provided lots of additional play time with a nostalgic song. Itâs the perfect size to bring with us in the car and easy for her to carry around the house as well.
Generally speaking, Fisher-Price is our “go to” brand for toys for our baby. Virtually never disappoints.This toy storybook is cute, because the purple monkey in a bubblegum tree song is stuck in our heads from our baby’s first tummy time toy.This book helps serve as a continuation of it, so it’s nostalgic and fun for us as parents too. Our baby loves it. The only critique I’d have is I wish they did the whole song and made the book longer, but it’s hard to really complain for an $11 toy book.5/5. Highly recommended.
