Very portable, lightweight, good colour and large size
This is a good quality product that is easy to use and versatile as it can connect to most devices capable of power delivery over USB.The panel is a large IPS LCD that has good colour, easy to use menu, lots of USB-C ports and a mini hdmi connection.I have used this device with Windows and with my S24 Ultra and was surprised by how well it works.The panel is easy to use simply connect it to USB (with power and display ability) or mini hdmi to your device and you now have a large display with built in speakers.The rocker and menu buttons on the side of the display take some getting used to when trying to navigate menus.This is a useful display for watching content from phones or other mobile devices with small screens or from gaming consoles, laptops or other devices without a built in screen.The colour is good but does not match the quality of a similar priced standard LCD that requires it be plugged in. The ability to adjust the image on the display is fairly basic so is better if you are using a connected device capable or fine thing the display output settings.The resolution is 1080P and has clear text for productivity use.The manufacturer states that the device is HDR capable however Windows and Samsung devices fail to recognize its ability to process the video information and instead shows strange incorrect colours.The display is very lightweight, portable and has a built in kickstand stand. Good value for a large, portable IPS LCD.

A very handy second screen – build is a little flimsy – weird intermittent popping noise on the HDMI connection–I’ve been wanting to try one of these portable monitors for ages, so when this ROADOM popped up I ordered it immediately and I haven’t been disappointed. This is an excellent basic FHD second screen for a laptop or video-out-enabled smartphone/tablet with both USB-C and [mini]HDMI inputs. The screen picture is quite good, with a hardware on-screen display control (which defaults to a brightness switch), and has an IPS rather than TN panel which makes it brighter and capable of a better colour range. Most impressively, it fully supports Thunderbolt and other video-USB-C plus power connections, so if you have a computer or mobile device with the capability, you can both power it and get a display image with only a single cable connected. I tried this with a laptop, chromebook, and Samsung Galaxy S21 phone and they all worked beautifully with just a Thunderbolt cable. I also rigged up a Chromecast to the HDMI port with the aid of the mini HMI to HDMI cable and a female to female HDMI adapter (which was a separate purchase). The 15″ is a good size, equivalent to or slightly larger than most laptops as well so this makes a great second monitor for them.It does have a couple drawbacks worth mentioning:-Build quality is all plastic and does feel flimsy. It’s extremely light, surprisingly so as I expected tablet-like weight, but the plastic doesn’t feel like a super high quality or tightly assembled; there’s some flex in the frame.-The HDMI to mini HDMI connection is unusual, and given the frame thickness could support it I don’t understand why they didn’t just go for a standard HDMI connection.-The built in speakers are best just disabled and ignored. Yes, they output sound. It’s not great sound. The connected smartphone speakers produced both better sound quality and volume.-When connected to power over USB-C and video via mini-HDMI, randomly 10-60 between seconds apart you get a pop/click sound from the back, which I thought might be the speakers but this happened even when I turned the speakers right off. Notably this *only* occurred on the HDMI connection, and only from my laptop and Chromebook. The desktop video card connection didn’t produce the same effect. It’s not the cable, because I tried two different ones, but it is one annoying thing about the HDMI connection. That said, almost all laptops made in the last 5 years have USB-C connections that are enabled for power and video, so there really is no reason at all to use the HDMI connection with a laptop anyway.-Kickstand is also plastic and has only one angle.-No touchscreen, and only 1080p max resolution.At time of review, this works out to $100 CAD total with a $60 coupon applied. All things considered, that’s pretty reasonable for the feature set even with the drawbacks. It’s a good, functional second screen with budget features at a relatively low price point. I’d avoid the HDMI connection in favour of the USB-C, if possible, because it cuts down on extra cables and the USB-C seems to perform better overall anyway.NOTE: Only some smartphones support video-out on their USB-C port, so check your phone model if that is your planned use. The entire Pixel line prior to the 8 series does not support video-out on a physical cable, for example, but the Chromecast I mentioned above was a decent work-around.
